I'm trying to fix my ati 5850's fan noise. It seems to be rubbing against the shroud, but I'm not sure. It's not the normal noise on startup as it won't stop. It doesn't happen all the time. I did a google search and round that I can disassemble the card and maybe see where it's rubbing. I disassembled most of the card but I got stuck at a few parts. First I can't seem to discconnect the fan connector from the gpu board, it won't come loose and I don't want to rip any thing off. Second I can't unscrew 3 small screws on the back of the shroud itself, but that is probably because my phillips is not small enough. Any help would be appreciated.

Buy a glasses tool sized phillips to unscrew the screws.
And to remove the fan connector, just rock it slowly back and forth along the edges. That usually works it up.
