4 fans working as 2? will it help?

Hi all. Came up with a strange idea, which I think might(or might not) improve air circulation. In my case ive got two 90mm(or80) fans on the side and using both of them already, but I thought what would happen if I added 2 more fans to the other side of the door, heres a sketch to better illustrate.



Question: Will it improve air output? or will it make it even worse?

In most cases, that will (a) make it a hell of a lot louder, and (b) not work as well.

Not even if outer fans(fan1) will be more powerful than the one inside? Wouldnt it help push out the air better?

The static pressure of the fan would increase, but airflow would remain the same... Just as adding 2 batteries in series increases the voltage (Push) the maximum output current remains exactly the same (not true in the real world, as each battery has it's own degree of resistance, but that's outside the scope of this example). This arrangement is useful when air is forced THROUGH something (like a radiator) but not in open air.

Not a stupid idea at all. What you explained is actually the popular 'push-pull' configuration people use with radiators when water cooling - If I understood you correctly.

While it does work with water cooling, it's not practical for air cooling, as Arcygenical explained.

No, it's useful in things other then watercooling. For example in some aircooled tower heatsinks you can arrange them in a push-pull configuration because,as stated, there is resistance involved in which two fans would add to the airflow. Without the resistance there then yeah, it's useless.
