Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Reason why I'm worried is because I blocked off a great deal of airflow in my shuttle case by strapping a second hard drive underneath the "sanctioned" region to place a hard drive and it's pretty much touching the CPU heatsink (tis ok, heatpipes drive heat out back as opposed to out the top of the heatsink)
Plus the GeForce 6800 was so freakishly long that I had to actually bend the SATA connector plug in order to make space for a couple of the ginormous transistors on the back-end (my hard drives seem to be working fine still)
80C would be something to expect from a 6800GT or higher. You have a NU. SO 80C could be considered kinda high, but your using a Shuttle case. Dont get to overly concerned. As long as your case temps arnt too high everything is fine.
well as for case temps, they can get upwards of 60 C at max load (read from the ambient sensor on the graphics card) or 55 C if read from the ambient sensor on the mobo.
CPU temps get to be around 58 C at max load.
Those temperature all seem acceptable to me (although a bit high) but I'm worried about my hard drives, which one would hope to stay under 50 C (doubtful with case temps of 55)
The only way I could watercool this thing is to submerge it in water
On the other hand, all my temps go down by over 10 degrees C when I place it flush up against my air conditioner I wonder what would happen if I made hoses to force 15 degrees C air through the side-vents (probably condensation).
Well comparing it side-by-side with my friend's PNY 6800, it actually is much quieter (once it boots up). It is also quieter than my other friend's 9800 Pro.
On the other hand it is far from silent. Prior to putting the leadtek in, I only had the shuttle ICE fan (rated at around 30 dB) and a Silent X 250 watt PSU fan (nearly silent!) and I can clearly hear the the 6800nu. The leadtek 6800nu is about as loud as my PSU/ICE heatsink fan combined, but it's still pretty darn quiet (speakers/computer both 1 meter away and I can hear my speaker hiss still on quiet nights...)
If you want silent... it's not silent. If you want quiet... then yeah... it's pretty quiet.
sorry for getting off topic, how the hell do ya run benchmarks in doom 3, i tried to use google and faq to find out but it gives uber meaningless results
