3TB SAS2 - ST33000650SS

Wow, sustained transfer rate of 155MB/s on a single drive without any tweaks, that's impressive. Operating power between 11-12watts is pretty good for a SAS2 drive.

Seagate does have very nice nearline-class HDDs and it will be interesting to see how some of these operate in a ZFS pool.

Wonder if the SED encryption part works with the Dell PERC H700/H800 line of cards. This would be a good way to have an encrypted storage server.

Isn't that normal for a 750GB / platter drive even at 5400 RPM? I mean 666GB/platter 5400 RPM Samsung F4s net 140MB/s. With hitachi 7200 RPM 666 GB/ platter drives being over 150MB/s.

Considering we're in a post-flood world, is AU$487 a good price for this drive or do you think I might be able to negotiate down a bit? :)
