Does anyone know what the best 3rd party video card manufacturer is? As in bundles and performance.

the thread leaves something to be desired... maybe an "nvidia" or "ati" or price range could help us help you?

flip

welcome to [H] ;)

im sorta pushing towards getting the nvidia should i be? and whats the best manufacturer for them?

lol thanks, you might have named the all. Ill take a look at albatron. ;)

For ATI, sapphire. Or powercolor, but they're normally the same price so I would go with the sapphire.

im leaning towards the ati sapphire now due to its popularity....does anybody know how well it plays ut2004?

The Sapphire 9600Pro should play UT2k4 great as long as you don't go much over 1024x768 resolutions with a little AA and AF.

My friend has a 5200ultra, and it even plays UT2k4 with most of the settings turned to the max at a resolution of 800x600.

Then 9600Pro is about 5 times better than that POS.

Good luck!!!

Or you could save for a Sapphire 9800 Pro for $209 @ newegg, and you won't have to worry about games like ut2k4...

one small problem. I have a 200W power supply. Could i get the card b4 i upgrade my power or will it just fry?If I can dude im gettin a radeon 9800pro. Ive noticed things called bulks and OEMs, are these any good?

i would do anything but fry if it had a lack of power

a 9600 pro will probably be fine but you want to get something that needs external power get the PSU first

I think you should buy a new power supply anyways, 200 watt is kind of low. And after you do that, buy the 9800 pro and don't look back...

Without a price range, the 9800XT is a monster...

I also recommend a PSU upgrade...I very important piece that you will upgrade eventually probably...

im really trying to avoid the PSU upgrade because my wallet is my allowance :( will an Ahanix 350W on newegg be good enough? does anybody have a PSU they dont need :p

powercolor for 9800SE, 256 bit. its the exact same as their pros, just a different BIOS ;)

so i've gathered that a sapphire radeon 9600pro would be my best bet with a 200W power supply, right? And maybe I could upgrade my PSU later. (all I want to do is get good FPS on todays games with max settings at about 800x600 or 1024x724)

you could go 9600xt, and get better performance than the pro, without upgrading your power supply

I would make your PSU top priority over anything else. people take for granted the sheer importance of their PSU, im confident you could get a cheap generic brand PSU for ~$10-$20
(NOTE: I do not recomend or condone the use of Generic PSU's i've been in this discussion over and over and IMHO quality brand PSUs take prescedence over their price, however given that you're paying for this with your allowance a generic PSU should be fine :)). Check pricewatch for PSU prices, cheap eh :)

From there i'd save for a 9800pro, they are cheap now, and with the end of this GPu cycle coming i'm sure they will be even cheaper (though theres no way to tell i guess)

but i really dont need something for resolutions above 1024. so wont 9600xt be good enough for games like CoD,ut2k4,sofII, etc.?

can sumone PLZ seach for a good price vrs. performance PSU that will work with my P3?:(

why can't you search for a good PSU? I already gave you a good price comparison website (www.pricewatch.com) i'm sure you're capable of finding one yourself. if you have any questions about a specific model or price im sure we'd be glad to help you then, but I can't do everything for you dude

is it possible that the one when you click 480W will work with my P3? (the 1st on the list)

sry for all the questions but, if i have a card now that requires 250W and i have 200W will there be a slowdown in windows? Ever since the new card (gf2 soon to be replaced) my performance in windows DRopped.

1 MORE :p yes or no ? plz. Can I run a 9600XT on my system now and get the PSU later?(i might buy it tonight so...)

Not true, there is a difference in the enabled pipelines, on some cards they can be unlocked, on others they can't.

As for your power supply question, if it's taking too much power a bunch of different things can happen..
won't boot
won't load windows
crashes all the time
etc..

ya could try it

I'd go with a 9800 PRO myself, it's a big jump in performance that will last a good amount of time. (that's how i justified it to myself twice too =)

i just wanted to further show u my crappy sys. its a PIII 733MHz with 256MB RAM with a Geforce2MX400. Now if I get a Radeon 9600XT and a 400W PSU will I see a huge difference in games?(i know theres going to be a major bottleneck so.?

is the GeforceFX 5900XT better then the 9600XT? It works without a power connecter right?

PLZ ppl i've been waiting for 3 weeks for ATI to respond you guys are my only source now!:( :( :(
