After overhauling my system, i've gone through 3 maxtor HD's only to find each had failed.

I ran memtest to secure the RAM. All parts are new, so I cannot figure out why these new HDs fail within a week.

Could the mobo or CPU be dammaged and contribute to this?

Check your psu voltages with a multimeter. No more than 5% off is within range.

Well, if the voltages are off...

Check the PSU forum for some horror stories, and reasons to buy a good psu.

Yes, that *should* be enough. But...

every manufacturer comes out with lemons once in a while, and that could be it. If you don't check it you won't know.

How long did you let Memtest run? 24h is not an unreasonable amount of time to run it.

What are the full specs of the system, including any cards in it etc. On some older chipsets sound cards could actually cause some hd corruption. Might be a overheating chipset as well.
