Here is the full question because I know it won't fit in the space provided.

This question pertains to the list of 3DMark05 scores I maintain.
The last posting is found here.

If a user such as Sideroxylon (Score 150) has a X800 Pro but then mods it to be a X800 XT-PE, well what graphics card should I enter it as on the list? In this case I entered it as an XT-PE, but when I do that it lowers the averages for the other XT-PEs.

(The averages appear in the link labeled "Scores 253-278 Averages".)

So should I always enter the card as it really is (what it was called when they bought it) or what they turned it into (by modding it in some way)?

I would enter as the card it reakky is because it will just make the card look better and its overclocking/modding abilities :)

o yeah and were these the new ones or the old ones? the list..

I agree with you.

See I made the decision a long time ago before I started doing anything with the core and memory speeds at all.

Depending on how the poll goes I think I should go back and try to correct the inequities.

EDIT:

The link is to the last time I posted the list (December 14th). As I said in the 3DMark thread my next list posting will be on Christmas day.

I thought when flashed it WAS a XT PE? xtra pipes and xt pe clock speeds?

You should enter it as a XT PE, because simply put, a pro does not have 16 pipes, there is a massive difference, if anything you could enter it as an XT but if it has XT PE clocks then do that. Otherwise it'l take the pro average sky high.

i reckon Writen as was standard item.... OR put as modded item and put a star next to it to tell everyone its been modded??

Soz im a n00b :p

Wow!

I had no idea the voting was going to be so close. I thought it was going to be a one-sided victory for one or the other.

I really appreciate the input you guys. What Gavinni says makes sense. Posting a X800 Pro that was modded into a XT-PE as a X800 Pro would screw up the average of the other X800 Pros.

I voted for the first option, but I think I chose poorly. Don't worry though. I won't take any action until the poll is closed and we have a winner.

I second that!! Definitly no longer classed as a pro. It would very heavily scew the end results of the average for the pro.

Bump because the poll has only 19 votes and 10-9 is no where near a majority rules type situation.... which is what I am still hoping for.

Honestly I would do the average as another class....say like the modded class...but thats just me.

But if no one else feels the same then I would go with listing it as what it has been modded too....post it like this maybe......X800XT PE-modded X800pro....or 6800Ultra - modded 6800GT.......or something like that.....kinda lets everyone know what everyone has and shows how serious they are about getting the right marks so to speak.......I am all anout streaching the most from what I have........and if yu got a card that will run as the next one up then go for it brother.

This has just been my 2 cents!

I'm gonna go against the grain and say what the card was originally. I mean, it shows what they cards are CAPABLE of, reguardless if they were flashed or not. It sucks that there are 2 types of Pro, VIVO that can be flashed, and non-VIVO that are laser cut. Either way, I don't think people overclocking a 6800GT to 400/1100 should list that as an Ultra, I thought that should be a GT and people can just compare. Yes, I know, different pipes, but when it comes down to it, the card is what you bought it as....is it so evil for chepaer cards to have higher averages because some people modified them to be more deisel? I don't think so.

But comparing a Vid card thats Been overclocked is much more different then a card that has be modified. An overclocked 6800GT is still a 6800GT. It physically is no different other then overclocking. But when you flash a bios and open up more pipes and then are able to overclock on top of that, thats a physical modification.(not the ocing part) Like classifying 2 cars. 2 Chevy Camero's. they both start life off as cars with V6 engines but then one guy decides to yank out that engine and put in the Z28 Camero engie and drivetrain. Hmm still says just Camero but it should be clssified as a Z28 Camero. Man the poor guy with the V6 car dosnt stand a chance even if he super tunes it and gets more power and speed out of it still not the same. (my analagy is - Ocing = tuning and plugs(the V6 guy) vs Moded = Bigger different engine that can be tuned from there(the V8 converted car) ) Well thats just my 2 cents anyhow.

The Cpt.

Always list it as the card it was originally.

but you might put something like @ xx/zz

where xx and zz equal your core and mem speeds

I understand the automobile anaology and understand that part of it, but still the card CAME as an X800Pro, for example, and was "tuned" to be an XT:pE. The only way the automobile anology would work is if you were benchmarking Dell Systems with a certain model # and you started ripping out components and replacing them, still calling it a "Dell Dimension blah blah blah". The card came with those pipes able to use with some 'tuning', a.k.a. BIOS flash. It's not like you ripped out the GPU, and plopped an XT-PE core in there and soldered it back in and then try calling it an X800Pro. Then we would have some issues...but it's still sold as, was, and is, a Pro VIVO just flashed to the SPECS of an XT:pE.

Just my opinion, and we'll probably have to agree to disagree on this one ;)

you're gonna have ahuge problem of trust unless you just go by what the card is listed as according to the benchmark
