3dmark2k3 doesn't make sense... ideas?

Alright, so I saw this from some other fellow on the forum

"My 6800nu @ 350/775
2700+
1GB PC-3200
Asus A7N8X-X

3dmark 2k3 9145

Doom 3 @ 1024x768 high quality, no AA, 39fps

Aquamark 46,567"

This is strange, because my system is:

P4 2.4C (HT on)
1024 PC3200
Leadtek a400 6800nu @ 390/911

Doom 3 @ 1024x768 High Quality/4xAA/8xAF/Vsync Off, 55.0 fps

Yet my 3dmark2k3 score is 6375

How can I be up 16 fps w/4xAA in doom 3 on a guy with 16 fps less w/0 4xAA and have a significantly lower 3dmark score..

I'm using the 61.77 drivers...

Any ideas?

oh yeah, and I benched my card before reformatting my comp and had above 9000 3dmarks... stupid computer
 
i get 8300 on 3dmark with my system.
and i get 45124 on aquamark...i wish i could OC my memory higher i dont know why it doesnt test after 740
 
You're comp may be set-up better for gaming ? 3dmark2k3 is D3D, and D3 is OGL ? I wouldn't sweat the 3dmark thing too much, if your rig is gaming well. It wouldn't be the first time 3dmark puts too much emphasis on one VC feature, and games don't respond the same way.

alright, that sounds good, up to 56.0 fps in Doom 3 (1024x768/4xAA/8xAF) OCed at 390/950

It might be the driver thing... after reading around I saw that somebody reinstalled winXP (a little drastic) and his scores rose from 6000's to 9000's

I did install the 65.xx drivers then uninstalled/reinstalled old 61.77's... I used the driver cleaner in nVhardpage... is there a better one?

hehe, naw I remembered to turn those off (I almost didn't since I was watching the planes the first time and was like... damn that looks good for this resolution w/oAA... then realized I had AA/AF on and turned them off)`

why would that make any difference tho if I'm doing fine in regular games?
 
ur scores are low for ur spec, i get 8.5k 3dmark03, 48k aquamark3 with 6800 stock, xp3200. get 10k 3dmark, 53k aqua3 with card at 400/900, xp3200.
maybe agp driver? is it runnin x8 agp?

I believe I'm on 8x AGP. I know my mobo is 8x AGP and I didn't change any settings on my 6800 that would make it change. How do I check what level of AGP it's running on?
 
I think that, seeing that my gaming fps aren't being affected by whatever is wrong I won't worry about it for now. I just won't get to boast about having any decent 3dmark scores:(

agreed. it's just a lame synthetic benchmark, that's been proven time and again to be lame. remember kids, the higher your 3dmark, the bigger your balls are.

its an easy way to test system or driver changes.


people dont HAVE to care about it..

but using it doesnt make you an idiot.

its not the end of the frigging world...

game was over hyped and everyone i know that made it through it is OVER it......

hopefully the engine can be used to make some games with more playability and REplayability....

They should make the next version of CoD off a modded version of the Doom 3 engine:p

Even better, they should delay hl2 again and make it off the Doom 3 engine:p

But then all my CS friends would be disappointed because they can't get the 100 fps that they "need"

Alright, uninstalled 61.77 drivers/ran driver cleaner, installed 66.00 drivers and 3dmark03 score of

9637 w/leadtek a400 6800nu OCed at 390/950

up from 6375

sound right now?
