Apparently some people have been experiencing problems with installing and running 3dm06.
I am one of those people, so I decided to start a thread about this.

Please post any issues with 3dm06 here.

My own problem with it:
3dm06 hangs at the logo screen - it keeps hitting HDD periodically but never gets to the main window. I can still access basic windows functions, although with a lot of lag. I cannot seem to quit 3dmark06.exe in the Task Manager, so I have to reset the computer eventually.

From reading some forums, it has something to do with WMI. Something about missing services or some such, which are supposed to collect the information about the computer hardware.

I cannot seem to figure out how to fix this problem. Any ideas will be very welcome.

(system in sig, running winxp sp2).

System Info Error: WMI enumeration not found
MO_WMI::CSystemDevice::getDeviceEnum(_bstr_t deviceName)

When extracting the file downloaded from 3dguru it asks for the password, and when I provide it I get an error message from 3dMark = (my extract to location = not a supported archive)

Huh?

When I OC my graphics card my 3Dmark score goes down by 600 points or so.

Same error. It's probably because my spec doesn't meet the requirements lol.

Spec:
2500+
6800 nu
786mb ram.

Those specs are fine...

I think my problem has something to do with CDROM/DVDROM drives.
My 3Dm06 finally loaded after about 40 minutes, and when I checked the Even Viewer, there were two errors at the time it loaded - something about my cdrom and dvdrom disappearing. Like this
The device 'JLMS DVD-ROM LTD-166S' (IDE\CdRomJLMS_DVD-ROM_LTD-166S___________________DS0B____\5&23b47b18&0&0.1.0) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.[

Update: I disabled both drives in Device Manager and 3dm06 loaded immediately.

i didnt check my log but my sony dvdrw 720 span up and down plenty of times, had the prince of persia 2 thrones disc in, but it was exactly the same without it in. the dvd is the only thing i havent tried unpluggin i might try it later today and see if it loads any faster. i also got about 10 virtual drives, sr7stop and stuff running, ill try disabling those aswell

My main problem is it shows my pc up to be the pretender it really is... for god sake im damn sure im getting less than 1FPS in some parts,,, and my final score is 1422, which sucks

disabled the dvd drive in device manager and 3dmark 06 now takes about 30 seconds to load lol

When I load the program my computer crashes and blue screens during the "detecting hardware" segment at the beginning. Any ideas?

The only problem i had with 3dmark06 was on the sea monster test with the ship, through ~50% of the test I got super bright colors and couldn't tell what was going on. It would go back and forth from these super bright colors to being normal. It wasn't artifacting, just all the colors messed up. All the other tests worked fine. Maybe it was the driver and having mitmap detail to high performance or something. It wasn't hardware issue. All I know is 3dmark06 is TEH SUCK and there is no way a f*ing 7800gt should come close to or beat my score and thats exactly what happened. 3DMARK06 is favoring nvidia big time. DELETE 3DMARK06 FROM YOUR COMPUTER AT ONCE!! IT IS EVIL AND TEH SUCK!!

Im having some serious problem's with mine. I click to start 3dmark06 Its start to inspect my hardware on the first screen. Then after 15 seconds it totally shuts down my computer.

I got a 600W power supply, 2 hds and a 7800gtx and a Amd X2 4400. I dont have any problem's with this computer except for this application.

Unfortunately I run a widescreen resolution (1680x1050) which 3dMark doesn't seem to run under especially since you can only change resolutions if you buy the full version. Nah, I was curious but I'll keep my money.

Anyone know a way around this limitation?

^^^ - yeah, unfortunately the default resolution on the basic version is 1280x1024.

well good.. glad to see I wasnt the only one... shoot.. I just wanted to see the pics.. care less about the benchmarks.. oh well I deleted it.. dont want to run.. no problem byeeeeee

Ok, I understand that the starting screen of 06 says that I need to wait for it to scan my system, but I waited an hour and came back and it was still just stuck there.

I've got an A64 @ 1.4GHz, 1GB of RAM, and a 6600GT at 600/1180. I know my system is sorta lame for 06, but it should at least get to the start screen :p

Disable you cd and dvd drives in device manager. If that doesn't do it, try unplugging USB devices. This is the current fix till the next patch.

I keep getting an the error: "failed to start because d3dx9_28.dll was not found"

when i go to see all the tests i can run it says caynon run , deep freeze , shader particles and
perlin noise not avalible...why???

Canyon Run and Deep Freeze require SM3.0, your 9600 only supports up to SM2.0.

Most of us can't see shader particles or perlin noise either: you have to pay to unlock those(edit: and those are SM3.0 tests anyways). FutureMark could probably rake in a lot more by just unlocking the tests without the ORB Pro features for $5. Virtually no one buys 3DMark because of the price, but even I would pay $5 to unlock the other tests.

My biggest issue is the random behaviour detecting SLI... 95% of the time it doesn't seem to register it being there...
