3DMark05 CPU limited?

Don't know where else to put it, so I'll throw it in here - Is 3DMark05 CPU Limited?

I only ask because my BFG 7800GTX is getting a "measley" 7,946 at the exact same clock speed as azzkikur's card, which gets 8,538. The difference between our two systems seems to be limited to motherboard and CPU. I've got a 3000+, he's got a 3700+.

And we won't even mention the 8,956 from canislupy's card... Which seems to be clocked at 567/1350! (Stock it's 460/1300)

While I'm by no means disappointed in my card, I would LOVE to crank that little extra bit out of it.

Yup, 3dmark05 is cpu limited, amazingly on the 3rd game test shows any real improvement with upping the clocks.

Like ^^ said, it must be very cpu oriented. because running my proc at stock (2.2ghz) I got about 10,500. But running it at 2.6ghz I got 11,500 or something like that.

Remember all 7800's run 3D apps with a clock speed 40Mhz higher than what you set it to before you started the 3D application.
So canislupy's card was set to 527/1350 before he opened 3DMark.
