3DMark05 Countdown

I'm not sure why people are ragging on Futuremark for putting OWND in the timer  It's better than l33t or dood.
The problem was the method of delivery

3Dmark 05 scores revealed

Before launch

WE HAVE SOME numbers that we would like to share with you before Futuremark finally introduces this long awaited test.
With current drivers, Nvidia will score 5000 points with the 6800 Ultra while the X800XT PR will score only 4500 with 4.9 drivers. With the new ATI driver codenamed 8.07, ATI score will jump to an incredible 5800. All these scores are on a 3.4GHz Pentium 4 machine. The ATI driver will be introduced as the Catalyst 4.10 and we learned it should get its WHQL very soon.

The Geforce FX 5950 Ultra will score a modest 1270 while the Radeon 9600XT will provide 1570 marks. The mainstream card kicks the former high end in its performance nuts.

The Geforce 6800 GT will score 4500.

You will be able to see many more scores on the 29th of this month at 3PM CET when Futuremark lifts the non disclosure agreement (NDA) veil. µ

I find a 29% increase suspicious. (from either ATI or Nvidia) But a little more suspicious from ATI since they really havent changed their architecture, so how did they all of the sudden squeeze 29% peformance unless they specifically optimized for 3dMark2005. If it walks like a duck it might Quack. exe

Taken with a grain of salt, and pepper, and curry, since this is afterall just a rumor from theinq.

While its stories are entertaining they dont always pan out to be true. Though they usually arent too far off the mark either.

So this could be very interesting.

3dMark2005 is probably just a multigame version of their Nature Test. Meaning highly pixel shader dependent...... and could run very well on ATI own NV.

I think Futuremark is still a little bitter/mad about how easily Nvidia optimized around their anti-optimization policies. And almost completely invalidated 3dMark2003.

3d05 is a complete waste of time. Sure, it'll look pretty and give your GPU a workout, but as far as telling us anything useful for comparison purposes it's a waste of time.

ATI suddenly have a "fix" the day before it comes out and Nvidia just happened to "leak" out a beta 66.70 driver point to shens before anyone can even download it.

I agree, the benchmark is useless. BUT I do like the eye candy and download it just for that. Those nature scenes sure are sweet! Now they should put nalu and dawn into those scenes :D
That would be awesome.

hahahahahaha even GT owners (like u chris and summoner) scoff at ATI in the benchmark that's not even out yet. Get off yer high horse GT people.

3dMark is not a game... nor is it a vaulable gamebenchmark. (well it is a game of cat & mouse for ATI, NV & Futuremark, with optimizations and anti-optimizations)

I view it as a technology showcase, just like Dawn, Dusk & Nalu (all naked mods of course! :) ) - gives me wood, lol

Though I do use it to test generally stability and tweaking of my system. If I can loop 3dMark it should be stable for gaming. If I change clocks/ratios/timings/etc... and I get a higher score, it should translate to better performance in general.

P.S. I'm still pissed about O-W-N-D and I'm going to trash Futuremark until the day I die now.

I said its worthless regardless of your hardware. So what are you laughing at again?

I know that I was just laughing at him... lol. But I'm guessing because he has a x800XT-PE he considers himself high and mighty, laff.

ive noticed theres no more letters in the countdown, maybe they will finally stop pissing people off

the timer is going to finish really early in the morning for me. :(

I heard they were going to change the name of the program to 3DCrap. Oh? They aren't? Why not? :p

lol wtf? how *in the blue hell* does a 9600xt score 300 points higher than the 5950U? if this thing REALLY is a video card benchmark, then WOOT i love my 9600xt. haha :p
urrrr... does this also mean the 9600xt will run next gen games better than the 5950?

If 3dmark really wanted to make this fair, they should make their own drivers just for that program, not let each side tweak theirs...

GT people? You know, somehow I think you'd come across as more intelligent if you donned Mister T's speach patterns.

Fucking bullshit hype counter. Use an exact release date and time or don't post anything at all. Stupid fucking Futuremark.

The only thing 3DMark is good for is optimizing your own system. Usless for comparing to other hardware.

I only use it to optimize OC settings. Once I hit a max on a synthetic I never touch it again. Until I get new hardware.

It is getting close to zero baby!!! I am falling for the hype bigtime. I love 3dmarks!!

downloading now :)

I guess you are lucky. I am just getting page cannot be displayed. I think Futuremark instigated a DoS Attack on themselves.
I only have a 9700 Pro so the idea of watching a benchmark chug by at 3 FPS turning out a score of 42 sounds frustrating.

The ONLY mirror that I have gotten to work for me is fileshack
