How does my 3dmark score stack up?

Not too bad mate. A new video card and some overclocking could easily get you 10k+

you could ask in the 3d mark thread but no worries. Looks like a good score for considering your videocard ( not saying that it's bad either) Have you considered oc'ing the cpu at all?

me: AMD Athlon 4000+ (single core)
2GB OCZ Platinum RAM
HIS X1650 XT iSilence II

score: 3007

I can play UT2004 and BF2 with the frame rates/performance I want.

I hope to keep it like this for 5 years even if it ends up as a backup machines. I endured an HP for 5 years that couldn't play the games I wanted to play the way I wanted to play them.

At least with this machine, I can play the games I like. It's all the power I need. Well, for now anyway. :D

BTW, I played the Colin Mcrae Dirt on high and it played smooth. (Ultra setting was lagging but I guess it's like that on most rigs.)

I have Oc'ed the CPU to 3.1 no problem, but it is just running stock right now.

You wanna read something amazing, my backup computer with a socket 754 Athlon 3700+ at 2.4 GHz with 1GB of Kingston HyperX RAM and a Geforce 6600 only scores around 1026.

I used Forceware 84.21, 93.71, 94.24 and 96.02. With driver 84.21, it only scored 934. The other three scored all about the same.

Like I said in my earlier post, I got over 3000 with an X1650 XT with the same kind of processor and 2GB of RAM instead of 1GB.

I had the same video card in my main rig and got just about the same performance. So, the video card does make a huge difference.
