3DMark Vantage Score.... Concerned.

What's your score?

It's normal for CPU to throttle down during a Vantage run if you have Speedstep enabled.
 
Your score looks good to me. Yes, it's not in the higher spectrum, but I wouldn't worry about it. You can up your Vantage score by overclocking your CPU and GPU if you haven't it yet.

Speedstep can be disabled in BIOS. It allows the CPU to dynamically change the clock speed and voltage depending on the load. Essentially, it's a power saving feature. You'll get a very minor performance boost if you disable it from my experience. It's better left on since it'll let the CPU to run cooler and at lower clocks when it's not being taxed.

Do you recommend overclocking with my build at all? my temps right now are around 36* idle... and at load...58-60.

the min is idle... and the max is at load. Should i overclock? i have been tempted to but i dont know how... and i wanted suggestions before i pull the trigger... and as far as my video card is it worth it?
 
I always overclock since that's where the fun really begins. So, yes, I definitely recommend overclocking, but only if you're ready to do some homework. Google and forum search functions are your best friends to get more info. Also, don't be shy about putting up a how-to-overclock post here, but I recommend you to do some research on your own before you make the post. Others will be more inclined to offer advice if they see that you've done some legwork first.

Is it worth it? Sure, but depends on the games you play.
 
Those links look good. Your temps look good as well. I don't concern myself with upgrading the cooling until CPU starts hitting around 75c with these intels. So, you should be ok as long as you're keeping tabs on the temps as you OC.

I recommend OC'ing the GPU first since I doubt the Sandy Bridge you got there is limiting your video card. Also, if any of the games you play are running perfectly fine, meaning to your expectations, then I wouldn't bother with OC at all. Overclock if you find the need to increase the FPS on games you run, not just to raise the Vantage score.

But raising the Vantage score is nice too, isn't it?

lol whats funny is i havnt installed any games yet on this pc i just built.... ive been xfering to my storage drives on this new pc... so i can take the 640 gb 7200 rpm wd6400aaks-00a7b0 and use it as a games/apps hard drive on this new one. Or should i buy a new 1 tb sata II? i
