I'm running a 9800pro and a 2.6c P4 and I'm only getting just over 14,000... I see people running systems like mine and pushing 17k,.. I'm wondering what I should do to up my performance.

Overclock the CPU and GPU....what drivers are you using? Try different catas untill you find one that your card likes. If not that, at least make sure you drivers are updated to the newest. Also update windows if you havent. Defrag after all this and restart your comp, then shut down all processes you can and run 3dmark...might help

I get around 74.

It's an Athlon 2100, but I have a nasty video card. (ATI Radeon 7000VE)

I'm going to run my Geforce 256 32mb tonight and see what happens.

I think my cpu score will keep it from being under 100.

after completely formatting my computer and running 3dmark01 after only doing all the windows updates, installing dx9 and the 4.3 catas (or w/e the newest is), i get a whopping...

Neo I think you are fine with that score. My rig in the sig just gets 17700+ in 3DMark01SE and 6400+ in 3DMark03

hmmm...

it may be close....

with my 4.0 ghz 3.0C, i got about 20.8K

3dmark is also mem dependent... are you using a 5:4 or 1:1?

with my spec at high 16k with cpu at 3.6G and vga at gpu/mem 325/297

and 5219 at 3DMark03

I'm running my rig slightly overclocked (see sig) and I get 18,000 in 3DMark01 if I set everything to high performance, have you overclocked anything? Also be sure to close as many background apps as you can and disable any anti-virus programs when benchmarking.

wow that score is kind of low i get 17000+ at stock speeds on my 9800pro, and i have a 1700+ @ 2.2ghz. Got a 6543 on 3dmark 03. you have some issues there

Man im thinkin it is your ram amount and speed you have 512 of 3200 most others have a gig of OCd 4000...upgrade and tweak your ram and you will hit the scores your looking for

Thats low for 4ghz, 3.4ghz 9800pro 20,142 and current 3.4Ghz 9500np softmodded 18,457

Your score is low because your running default speeds. 3dmark 2k1 is very FSB dependent, and will benefit greatly from and overclocked FSB and High Ram Speeds. 2k3 is less dependent on the system and more on the GPU. So Overclock your system and your Vid card and you should get 18+

I got 19,3xx at 2.52ghz (210*12)

at 2.62 (210*12.5) I get 19,6xx.

I'm running my memory at CAS 2.5, 3, 3, 11.

If I had some better memory that could do 2, 2, 2, 11, would that make a difference? maybe push me to 20k??

Well Geno he is using a Intel P4 and you are using AMD so you can't really compare your score to his rig. P4 scores are a lot better to compare to his rig.

Ah, yeah, I'm definately going to throw another 512 in and throw a Zalman CPU cooler on there and try again with a little overclock. But I think my current cooler is seated wrong or something as it hits 56c unload over clocked 2.6@2.8 when I run Prime95...
