Forbes article with more tests including a Titan X and more.

PCPer was contacted by Microsoft to run some early DX12 API Overhead tests based on early Nvidia and AMD drivers. The performance increase is REAL! 476% performance increase for the Titan X!

Rather unbiased for PcPer, they usually heap accolades on Nvidia and slam AMD.

lol

Nothing we haven't already seen already same benchmark over and over ...benchmarks make anything look good the real test is with games.

I don't really see the point in releasing these things, either. The developers already know the real advantages of DX12 at this point, so it's all just marketing fluff to generate hype and more interest in Windows 10. The people who need to know already know, so people just need to use some common sense and wait for actual games to be released.

I doubt that we will see a truly optimized DX12 game before 2016, unless some of the big names that AMD gave Mantle to have something waiting in the wings. So benchmarks are the only thing that we can gauge possible future performance on. Also it's fun to speculate and read at least to me. :)

It's worth noting comparing GPUs from different manufactures and using different architectures using this test doesn't indicate better performance in actual games. This test is only useful for comparing APIs, CPUs, and GPUs using the same chip.

So is it too soon to decide whether a 6 core CPU upgrade over a 4790k is really worth it in terms of the performance were seeing?

Yes, games/game engines will still need to be properly optimized for 6 cores, developers might continue to only optimize for 4.
