I was just curious if this was normal...when I run 3DMark06 the two cpu tests usually run between 0-2fps. My overall score comes out to 2679f or the cpu.

Is this normal? I have an E6600 overclocked to around 3.15ghz


Also it doesn't add up the scores correctly I notcied. If you add up my SM3 + SM2/HDR + CPU score I got a 6998, but it says my score is 5560. I confused :D

I got a huge boost from overclocking my 7900 gs up to 600/802 :cool:
 
I had a pretty big jump up when I oc my 7900gs up to the same settings you have.

I believe the 3dmark score is sm2+sm3 + (cpu/2) or something like that. OC my cpu only got me a small jump in score. FPS for the cpu test is normal.
 
the CPU tests have nothing to do with FPS, the video card idles during them. it's testing physics and not framerate. my CPU scores 2775.
 
FPS = Frames Per Second, and isn't limited to graphics cards. CPUs render the scene, and the faster at rendering the higher your FPS.
 
i ran 3D mark 06 on the extreme quad and my framerate on the cpu test and had an average on 3-4 frames a second... when my X6800 got 2-3 FPS on stock. i still think unless you are a video or CAD style renderer that the Quads are pointless.
 
Well ya, unless you use all 4 cores most of the time they are useless... but you also won't be gaming w/o a video card or use a crappy resolution that makes it use the cpu.

Or you could some folding while you game :p

That is really strange, my x6800 is getting less than 1 fps on the cpu test. That really has me wondering...

Yeah, the CPU framerate is gonna be real low. My E4300 at 3GHz scored 2612. So I think you are normal.

Also the 3DMark06 overall score isn't the scores of the tests combined. They have some other formula to come up with the overall score, probably weighing the GPU tests a bit more heavily then the CPU or something. But again, it's normal for your 3DMark06 score to not equal the sum of your individual test results.
