ran it once with 512 pc2100 ram and processor at 2.0 ghz

then upgraded to 1gig pc3500 ram and prcoessor at 2.2 ghz

3dmark03 gained 6 3d marks... that program is useless, meanwhile farcry gains 10-20 fps and never stutters

that's yet another reason why futuremark failed with 3dmark03. Real world gains with faster components like your Far Cry improvements show the whole system matters more than just some non-real game demos (poorly written ones, at that).

I think they learned their lesson and will go back to a system benchmark like 3dmark2001 was.

Poorly written, were you expecting them to run great when they released it? The next 3Dmark will run like crap, its meant to so it has a longer life, when we once were getting 5000 in 3Dmark03, now we see 15k, that shows how far we've come in such a short time.

And there are systems that improve the score, but not by much. And it's more to test the GPU, look what happened to 3Dmark2001, it's nothing but cpu limited so there's no point in testing it as one card will get 17k and the same card could get 24k on a faster cpu, making the test worthless except for CPUs.
