We will not be able to answer your question until you tell us what monitor you have.

The 3D mode will work and you will get the added benefits when you buy the new lenses (i.e. more comfortable, better viewing angle, better brightness, etc). I was present at the GeForce Lan 6 presentation where they unveiled the new 3D vision and the highlight was the LightBoost technology. Which was about making the games brighter when using the 3D mode but this feature was on the manufacturer side, specifically monitors, meaning that this benefit would come from a new generation monitors that dims or brightens itself when switching from 3D mode to 2D mode.

My understanding is that the new lenses will make the 3D experience brighter since Nvidia improved how the lenses "open" and "close" to give the 3D effect.

You are already have an LED monitor but I can't speak for how compatible that might be with the LightBoost tech.

I won an Nvidia 3D Vision 2 kit at the LAN(They also review the new glasses so check out the link). And holy crap that monitor is bright! Sometimes it hurts my eyes when my room is dim and a browser page is open :p

Hope this helps

Can you guys describe how 3D vision actually looks like? I am trying to decide if I should give it a try. Does gaming in 3D look like the 3D movies we see in theaters? Does it look like a number of 2D projections at various depths from the observer? Or alternatively, does 3D vision actually look like true 3D objects? The "3D" in movie theaters has never really impressed me. Your responses will be much appreciated.

Oh man, thats like describing music of a deaf man. Um... well the support varies from game to game. I can tell you that Portal 2 and Battlefield Bad company 2 impressed me. The "3D effect" adds a "depth" to the things you are doing in game. So yes, it feels like somethings are a bit farther away and others are hovering in the air.

My best recommendation is to go a to store where they might have a set up for you to check out.

fohijgmz said it well, it's difficult to describe. To me the effect works better in games than movies but as with movies the quality of the effect varies game to game. The only way to know is to try it for yourself. Batman Arkham City does a great job with it, the best game I've tried to date in my 18 months of 3D gaming. I hear Skyrim is great also.
