Is there a good 3d stress test for a video card that I cast just let run for 24hs like Prime95 for CPU?

You can try rthdribl, or your favorite video game. If it artifacts then...

What I was hoping for is something I could start and just let run while I do other things.
Maybe I can find a way to loop a recorded demo in SS2 or FEAR.

RTHDRIBL and AtiTool will max your cards temps but I've found that nothing taxes and shows artifacts on my card like FEAR and Quake 4. Other games and programs will report no errors or artifacts, yet these two, I'll clearly see the artifacts.

if you have a 3d program running in the background, it will only stress your cpu, not you video card because it isn't rendering anything but your browser or w/e

I see from your sig that you have a BFG 6800GT, as I do. The quickest way I have found to expose an excessive overclock in a hurry is to simply run the Nalu demo. It doesn't take too many loops before her hair starts looking like an explosion in a mattress factory, or the seaweed starts to look like rock candy on a string. Nalu pushes NV40 chips pretty hard, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to learn that they used it to bin chips for GT/ultra/vanilla during their early production runs.

Is the ATI Tool "fuzzy cube" test any good at exposing artifacts?

atitool is a great vid card stress test. It gets my vid card like 7c hotter than anything else I throw at it. I've tried q4, hl2, fear, doom3, ut2k4 for hours and nothing I play gets it near as hot as that damn lil cube in atitool. If it don't artifact under atitool, it won't under a game.

I think you misunderstood what he meant :)

Like everyone else suggestd, RTHDRIBL with some eye candy on will do the trick.

Is there something similar to ATI Tool for the nvidia card? Or is it compatible with both?
