3d Overclock Affects Windows?

I have a 6800GT that I overclocked to 400/1100. I have had it overclocked for a while (about a week) and just recently my comp has started randomly crashing. I have no idea what it is, I didnt think a 3d overclock even affected windows anyways? Is that correct? It will randomly crash while playing games or even watching movies or even when I leave the computer and comp back, it will have crashed. Since then I have noted that it takes a looong time to boot up windows, not actually getting past the win xp loading screen but actually loading the desktop. I am gonna try to turn off programs from loading and see what that does.
 
Looks like windows took a dump on me, isnt even booting now. I gotta try to figure this thing out.
 
Ok so I tryed to boot into safe mode and every time I try to, it stops on the file "gagp30kx.sys" which is:

MS Generic AGPv3.0 Filter for K8/9 Processor Platforms

What would that be doing that wouldnt make it load correctly?
 
It sounds like something is borked....what I would personally try is re-installing Windows. If after you re-format it still keeps crashing and what-not, then it's something else. If you use Windows, and have Cable/DSL, and no router, then I wouldn't be surprised if you have a virus of some sort (yes, just being connected to the internet directly on your modem and doing nothing you can catch a virus....script kiddies are sneaky). I don't THINK a 400/1100 overclock would kill a computer like that, but who knows, anything is really possible. When worse comes to worse, get down to the basics, just your harddrive, motherboard, and videocard. If it locks up with just those, try a diff videocard, etc. Divide and conquer, my friend.
 
Well I stuck in my 9800 pro and it booted just fine. Then I put in my x800 pro and it wont boot again. I am gonna try some more stuff.
 
nah, it hasnt acted like one. Right now im trying to get windows to reinstall but my floppy drive is being crap and not ready the floppy to install the sata raid drivers.
 
looks like a psu problem.. you stuck in a less powerful card ( 9800pro) and it works fine then stuck in a card that runs twice as fast and it won't boot hehe
 
A failed oc corrupted my install of windows xp (could only get into safe mode)... Just reformated and it worked... Also RMAed my card because the fan was clicking now...but working, never the less.
 
Why format? Just install over your old install and see if that helps.

I, for one, HATE formatting because my install is so customized.
