3d (not what ur thinking) videocards

thats rediculous, but there was one thing i was confused about... u need to be looking at it thru a certain screen to see all those things right? they arent holographs on the table.. or are they?

you take a real world object and the software maps a 3D object onto it but you have to look at a computer screen or a TV where it is displaying the computer generated 3D object onto real world objects

i long for the day when it really is 3D holographs like that on my desk :D
 
no, I think it is a real hologram on the table, how else would the heli fly over all the people and have them astaounded? Imagine and RTS on ur table or in ur living room....
 
no, it is not a holograph. the helicopter flew over all the people because it was integrated into the realtime footage of what we were seeing through the camera we saw it through. that same image was being broadcast onto the tv in the background.

the technology here is just real-time 3D augmentation where 3D models can be manipulated around other things. i am pretty sure that a model of the room was created with invisible textures on the computer file that the hummer was driving around. at least that is what i think is going on

well technically if it required a computer screen/ computer to generate it so u can see it, theoretically they could have been wearing special VR googles (or somethings of the sort).

If so, imagine playing Jedi Knight, and chasing a sith around your living room.
 
Yes, I guarentee the host was not seeing any of these things he was interacting with unless he was looking at a monitor; same with the audience. I used to work in Scottsdale; I could have gone to this presentation! :(
 
im so sad now... i was excited too, playing RTS games on my living room floor or on the dining table. or running on a treadmill and seeing images around me that I could shoot with my holographic gun. oh well
 
I don't have the bandwidth needed to see those (i'm still on dial-up huhuhu). But i know there's already a couple of companies that developed devices that lets you project a 2D screen in midair with nothing but your eyes and a device about the size of a toaster. It's even touch sensitive so you'll actually be able to point and click at the floating monitor with your finger.

Unfortunately, i can't remember the name. Maybe someone else here has also seen it?
