Hello, Im a student looking for a computer that can handle some 3D,video and image editing. It would be nice if it could run games but it is not necessary.

1) What will you be doing with this PC?
Im looking for a computer primarily for 3D modelling/rendering with 3Dstudio and vray. Ill also be doing some work with after effects and photoshop. Games (waiting for SC2 and SWTOR) would be nice but are not necessary. Dual monitor support is also a must

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
aiming for $1500CAD including tax and shipping but willing to go up to $2000 if its worth it

3) Where do you live?
Toronto

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc
mobo, ram, cpu ect. This is going to be an entirely new build and i need everything except monitors and a case.

6) Will you be overclocking?
Do you think overclocking will be beneficial/justified. Take into account that rendering might result in the computer being on for weeks at a time

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
The end of summer 2010

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
I get a student deal, im planning on going for 64bit

I would like to note, that "end of summer 2010" is a very loose requirement. I would be willing to wait up to half a year extra if there would be any significant price drops

I highly doubt there will be any significant price drops on the cpu, mobo, ram, psu and harddrives. The video card probably. I'm looking at things on NewEgg every single day as it's one of the websites I visit daily. For starters, you can look at a build like this.

CPU/RAM - Intel Core i7 920 + OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 1600 both for $464.98 ($20 MIR)

MOBO - ASUS P6T SE X58 for $219.99 ($20 MIR)

VIDEO CARD - XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB for $178.99

HDD (primary) - Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB for $50.99

HDD (secondary) - Samsung Spinpoint 1TB for $95.49

OPTICAL - Sony Optiarc 24X DVD Burner for $24.99

PSU - Antec Earthwatts EA650 for $89.99

Total: $1,125.42 before shipping & taxes

HG's build is good. MSI X58-M would save you a bit of cash, but if it's negligible, get the P6T SE instead. Can't comment on the vidcard choice, as you did not list what size monitors you'll be using.

OT: Why do people omit answers to questions in the sticky?!?!? Does it really take much longer to provide an answer?!??!
