i should have over nighted mine. i live in san jose, according to tracking they're in sunnyvale right now, but they have to go to the san francisco recieving center before they can ship to my address. they've got to drive the buggers past my house, go 60 miles north, then come back. mongo angry![]()
Nice, any chance you can give us your initial impressions after some heavy gaming. I'm concerned about the heat this thing produces.
Just out of curiosity, WTF is that supposed to mean? The guy just wanted some new video cards, and paid for them accordingly.
Not in the same price range. You've been making an unfair comparison between these two products in a few threads now. Look at price not only performance before you make a recommendation. He was warned about getting this card, and now he just wasted his money on an inferior card. He could have gotten an ultra and bypassed all these problems
I sit patiently, awaiting the banhammer.
You didn't file for an RMA or anything? I'd be pretty pissed.
Oh and I reported noseguard's idiocracy.
you reported me because you disagree with what I say? Thats not what these forums are about. This is a place where we meet and debate various topics in a mature manner. I have as much right to form my own opinion as you do.
What you are doing in going into the ATI forums and picking fights. This is also known as trolling and is not welcome.
What you planning to do with the 2nd card?
very nice, are you going to put them in crossfire? Is that even possible? I haven't seen any benchmarks of the 3870x2 in crossfire yet.
Well deserved, and eagerly awaited.
Lets see these boys in action! Does crossfire even work with these yet?

Ok one card is in. Idle temps are 60*
Going to run 3DMark06 then try to crossfire one 3870x2 and one 3870.
I will be RMAing the one card.
Are the drivers used by the website testers available to the public? Or do you have to use the old drivers still?

hey
let us know how it performs on your games. Also, see how far you can oc that baby.
Could you run a fraps test of one of the games featured in [h] review with similar settings? It won't be directly comparable, but can give an indication of performance nevertheless in real time gaming. I'm considering getting a new card, either in the next few days or in feb.![]()
I'll see how much I can get done tonight
I think there's a thread about this possibility. I'm curious if it will succeed. Actually, wasn't ATI supposed to release drivers to enable mixed chipset CF, is it Hybrid CrossFire? What you're going to be attempting is not quite the same thing but it's along the same vein. I like the pioneering spirit and hope it works.Going to run 3DMark06 then try to crossfire one 3870x2 and one 3870.

No, I believe you're right. I might be thinking of the proposed NVidia counterpart. Things are moving fast in the video market this year with new and forthcoming releases, I need to catch up...I thought Hybrid Crossfire was only for the lower (34**, 36**, integrated) graphics stuff? At least that's what I took from the slides in the [H] article about the 34 and 36 series, I may have been reading them wrong though.
But would be awesome especially in a quad DVI version...Wonder if thers a 2 gig ddr 4 version in the works, that would cost a pretty penny.![]()

I don't know how they'd work that though, with the cooler. A breakout plate?
Look at the pics here, you're going to freak... http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/01/29/first-amd-dual-gpus-asusI don't know how they'd work that though, with the cooler. A breakout plate?
Installed the 3870 with the 3870x2. One Crossfire Bridge. No option in CCC for crossfire.
Perhaps with the drivers soon to be released?Installed the 3870 with the 3870x2. One Crossfire Bridge. No option in CCC for crossfire.
That's a real bummer.
Any possibility of trying out the x2s in CF before you RMA that one?
Theres already an asus version with an additional board that comes with 4 dvi connectors, has that weird looking dual fan heatsink on it as well. Pics of it in one of the threads here.
