Hey all,

Im strongly thinking about going for the 3870 X2.
So... here are a few questions:

1. I'm going to be grabbing a 24" monitor shortly... how well does it perform at 1920x1200 in different games?

2. Does it require a crossfire MB?

3. How are the drivers at the moment? Reason I ask is that I heard that when the card came out the drivers wern't taking full advantage of the other GPU.

4. I've really been a Nvidia fan for a very long time indeed, and have only ever had 1 ATI card before... therefore, which company should I buy? I.e. Asus, HIS etc.

5. Final question - How does it compare to the Nvidia 8800 GTX?

1. Well
2. No
3. Improving with each release, though they're pretty good right now.
4. Sapphire/Visiontek
5. Most people will say it's faster, though in real world situations it proves to be about the same (and sometimes slightly slower).

1. Runs all my games except Crysis at 1920x1200 4xaa, 16af max eye candy well over 60 FPS TF2 is close to 100FPS with 8xaa and 16Af and Bioshock is around 80FPS LOL.

2. Nope

3. Best drivers currently are leaked beta drivers they perform great for me on Vista 64

4. I've seen a couple people having to RMA their Asus not sure if it's just coincidence or not...I personally bought a Sapphire as it comes with a nice bundle but I think they are mostly all about the same. If you are a big Nvidia fan you might wan't to wait a couple weeks as Nvidia is coming out with a dual gpu card as well 9800x2 no telling if it will be faster or slower though as it will only be clocked at 600mhz.

5. I don't own a GTX but according to [H] review 8800GTS 512 is neck and neck with GTX and I just upgraded to 3870x2 and it blows my GTS out of the water, I had a nice overclock on the GTS as well but there is no comparison between them LOL 3870x2 is MUCH faster.

I'll add my testimony as well.

I'm running 1920x1200 on a 24" Acer. games run awesome [except crysis, but that i blame on the game, not the card].

I bought the Asus card. Actually, 2 of them. Running the 8.2 driver and so far no issues. Waiting for the 8.3's to install the 2nd card and get some quadfire action going.
