3870 -2D-3D- Clocks

Would someone tell me if there is a way to lock the 2D clocks on the ATI 3870 ?
I have rivatuner and there is no selection to fix the 2D Clocks. The problem is I play FSX and use the window mode due to using a second monitor and the clocks keep jumping from 2d which is only a core clock of 300 to 3d which is 777 by default. Fsx frames crawl when 2d kicks in which is crazy. I want to just fix the card to run 800 core and 2400 memory all the time.
Would some smart Soul out there tell me how to do this please !!!!
Frames are great when running the 800-1200 but when running 300-1126 this sucks!:confused:
 
ati overclocker has the 2d clocks set option,haven't tried it with the hd3870 yet,worked with the x1900
 
Interesting.. I didn't read the post completely and see why you want this.... Now the driver should sense you are in 3D even in the window mode so it might be a driver issue.
 
That's what I am thinking also. It even does this in full screen mode.It is very annoying.
I tried Atitool beta and the 3870 does not like the program - hard locks.
 
I'm running ATITool 0.27b4 and it basically works fine, though I am not able to get fine resolution on the fan speed (I can't set it to say, 55%). It serves my needs though, I fixed the fan speed at 50%, changes it at startup just like it should (50% is about the limit before it gets noisy, but it runs SOOO much cooler than at stock speed it's not even funny).
