alright, well 1600x1200 which one is better :p I know the 3850 has 256m but it seems as if it's a bit faster still (without aa)

This page will show you how much performance you will gain in some games. The benchmark shows it versus a 1950XTX, but the 1900 was about as fast, so yeah.

At 1600x1200 I would not recommend getting a card with less than 512MB, especially at this point in time where 512 is becoming mid range.

There is a factory OC 512MB version of the 3850 which is only slightly higher in price than the regular 3850, made by powercolor I think.

the 3850 still seems to be out performing the 1900xtx @ 1600x1200 only @ 1920+ it seems to fall behind. I guess its the same as a 1950pro 512 m vs a 1950xt 256m? ^^

It's just the memory starting to hurt on certain games at 1920 and above, but only Bioshock shows the 3850 fall behind the x1950xtx

Otherwise it does nearly double performance in a lot of those benchmarks

Not bad considering a year ago a x1950xtx cost twice as mch!

I'm wondering something simillar...how does 3870 CF stack up against X1900XTX CF in all the recent games?

My DFI RD200 is an old piece of crap and now's my time to upgrade to a MSI 790FX. The planned Black Edition 6400+ cpu (no Phenom just yet) and a some DDR2 should be a nice boost (2x 16pci as opposed to 2x8). I just don't know if the '1900's are worth selling on (with modded aquagratix water blocks) to get some HD3870's.

Thanks that was really helpful, I'm looking to upgrade my X1950pro....I only play at 1280x1024 and its still a solid card in most games...Besides Crysis.

Still going to wait for 8800GT 256mb.
