3850 and Driver issues...I'm dying over here

Alright, so I put together my new system today that has the P5k-VM Motherboard. This particular motherboard has onboard graphics.

Here's the issue, my HIS 3850 wont install any type of Radeon drivers. Here are the list of errors:
from the 3850 CD itself, it errors saying the setup only supports 64bit operating systems, and I have a 32bit OS;ergo, I'm fucked.
I'm using Windows 2k completely updated to SP4 and all other updates on windows update. And if I try to manually install the drivers, the computer always picks the Vista 64bit driverset from the CD and if I try to force it to use the XP/2k set, it says those aren't the correct drivers.

Alright, maybe the CD is messed up.

Ok, so I downloaded the latest drivers from ATI that support 2k: Cat 7,5. When I try to install this one it says "setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration..." Great.

So then I try the Radeom Omega Drivers 38330. This doesn't even give me an error, but after it says its installed, it isn't installed. My Display screen still says Default Monitor on VGA 16 colors 640x480. Ok, so I tried to force these drivers. Same thing as above; my computer says those aren't the correct drivers and wont use them.

Keep in mind I have completely reformatted twice today and everytime I try a different driverset I have used Driver Sweeper and ATI's own Cat-Uninstaller.

I'm at a loss. The integrated graphics works fine. Those drivers installed fine, but needless to say, I don't want them when I paid for the 3850.

I've tried installing the drivers in safe mode. Again, I get the same errors or after it says its installed, it isn't. It still says default monitor after I reboot.

I can get the control panel to recognize the Radeon 3850 in the Hardware Device Manager; however, it has that yellow exclamation mark, and it says error Code 31 could not install the drivers.

I've searched and found some advice because earlier today it was giving me the error 'video inf' not found or something to that effect. But it has not happened since the second format.

I also updated WIndows 2k and the motherboard before I even tried to fiddle with the graphics card.

If anyone has any advice, please I'm desperate. I'm going to continue to work on this, but I also thought ATI's driver problems were an exagerrated myth; today I found out it is truth.

I believe support for the HD3850/3870 are limited to Catalyst 7.12 and up, there is no Windows 2000 support for these cards.

Time to upgrade to Windows XP. ;)
It's really quite stable now that it's been replaced by Vista. :)

It was the best OS I'd ever used. Plus I had it, so I wouldn't have to go buy another POS microsoft product.

All is well now though. Just in the middle of overclocking the system.

Well don't leave us in suspense, how did you all the sudden get it to work. I assume you downloaded 7.12. I can't get 7.12 to load CCC so I have to use 7.11 with my 3870.
