hey guys,

recently got a new system and i seem to be having problems oc'ing it.

system specs:
3800+ x2 am2 2.0ghz
asus m2n-e
ocz gold ddr2 667
stock air

i am able to adjust the fsb or htt, adjust the multi and the volts. also, i can adjust the memory speed from 400, 533, 667, 800. the thing is, when i bring the fsb up to 260 for example, it loads windows but shows a lower clock speed (eg 2200 mhz instead of the 2600-- from 260 x 10 multi).

here is what i did:
put the pcie mhz to 100
set the fsb to 260
changed ram settings to 533 mhz
added some volts (stock 1.35 set to 1.375)

the reason i set the ram to 533 is so that when i up the fsb to 260 the memory will run at 325 (or ddr 650). eventually i would like to get to 270 and run the memory at 337 (which is close to the stock ddr667). when i load up the bios, it shows the fsb at 260, the ram at 533, but when i go into windows, im back to like 2200..

temps where pretty decent on stock air-- in the 40's. anyways, i hope that post made sense.

TIA

might be on his board as LDT?

btw wat is the max volts on the mem for that board... I'd like a AM2 that does more than 2.2 on mem V.

make sure you lower the ht link speed :D

In your bios it may be listed as LDT...

Drop it to 4x or 800. If you go over 250 FSB drop it to 3 or 600.

LDT should be around 800-1000

ok, i found an option on the mobo:

k8<---->SB HT speed (then you can toggle either: x 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

what does this do? and what should i set it at if i want the following numbers:

2600 mhz
260 HTT x 10 multi

TIA

EDIT: just read the above post, must have posted a second faster-- thanks.

how does this HT speed relate to everything else?

I don't see how it would change your frequency however it can affect your system stability. @ 260fsb = 3x.

Eclipse showed that the ldt really doesn't affect much but it can casue instability.

Could you please show the mem V settings? :p
You have this right?

Are t there 2 types of this one? I saw a Canadian site that had 2 of these but different prices. NCIX i think

Need an AM2 board with good mem v settings.

ok cool, thanks. i'm sitting at 240 right now with ht x 4.

the mem V settings (meaning memory voltage i presume).. goes as far as 1.95 v.

thanks for the help.

just an update. also wondering if my temps sound right...

stock air:
36ish idle
57-59 under full load (from sandra)

i'm at 253 HTT x10 = 2530 mhz
1.365 volts (according to bios)

does this sound right? asus probe is giving me all the measurements.

thanks

FSB
HT-multi/LDT
Ram divider

Set your HT Multi down

Try using clockgen (and use cpu-z) to see what ur current clock speed is

clockgen u can adjust the FSB in windows

thanks.

got it to run at 2500 stable. played some WoW, ran sandra, no glitches... i got to restart the computer and it goes back to default. why o why..

Just to make sure you go about this the right way and don't stumble into a broken windows installation, give this guide a read over. It'll walk you through getting a 100% stable OC.

I can't answer why but on my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe if I go above a certain HTT speed (fsb) and the multiplier is set to "auto" it will lower my multi down from the default 11x. Just reboot and manually set it to what you want.

Check out the Newegg link that MC FLMJIG posted. In the first review someone mentioned problems saving bios settings.

My bios was unable to save any changes and was forced to clear rtc in order to run it again. after updating the bios to v2.3 I've had no problems.

seems a hair high.. perhaps consider taking off the heatsink, taking off all the thermal pad with something like paint thinner and rubbing alcohol, putting a small dab of as5 on and trying again? :p

well, i updated the bios to 2.3. everything seemed to be doing well. i got up to 2600 mhz, which was stable. i shut the computer down for a few hours, booted it up and it ran at 2600. anyways, i restarted it and for some reason, my comp doesnt like restarting and just stalls. this seems wierd, as the comp was able to run at 2600 after restarting.

also, when i restart and get the comp running again, i check cpu-z and it shows my clock speed at 2000mhz (instead of the 2600). the thing is, i go back into bios and it shows that my HTT is 260 x 10, and eveything is set up properly to run 2600...

aha
TIA
