I've got a 3770K system that randomly locks on the windows splash screen from a cold boot about 1/20 times. A soft reset afterward always results in successful boot/start.

-The cpu is OC'ed to 4.5ghz with offset and peaks at 1.22v under load, idles around 0.96v. It never exceeds 65c (H105 CLC)

-RAM is 16gb corsair XMP2400mhz, running @2400mhz and 1.65v

-Gigabyte Sniper3 Z77 board.

-EVGA Hybrid 980ti at default clocks

-Seasonic X1050 GOLD PSU

-Samsung 850 pro and old Intel SSD

The system has been stable for a long time. I can't pinpoint when this started, might have been the videocard or RAM which were recent upgrades... However:

The system can run each of the prime95 torture test configurations indefinitely.

The system can run memtest 86+ for hours, no errors.

The system can run Unigine Heaven or Valley indefinitely.

The system never crashes in any application.

I've tried adding voltage to the core, and IMC, going to fixed volts, disabling all C states, bumping LLC to high... I don't know, I might just have to live with it... it only happens about once a week.

Any ideas?

run memtest for at least 3 cycles, if ram is ok, lower the overclock and see if it still crashes
