37 1080p help

So I've read as much as I can and I've gone to see the panels in person (except the Magnvox 37mf437B) and I need help.

This will be a computer monitor and bedroom tv. My thoughts- in no particular order:
1. The Westy- extremely popular- but not the most beautiful monitor in the world. However- hardly any owners have reported a problem using as a computer monitor at full resolution. That almost is enough for me to buy this right now. I've read SD is pretty bad- but HD is great- blacks not as good as others but still fine.
2. Sharp 37d62U- great looking monitor and good hardware- but has some issues. Bad pixels- dynamic contrast- banding-difficultly using dvi-hdmi as a computer monitor. On the last point- some people have no problems running full resolution using dot by dot- but others need powerstrip for a custom resolution because of refresh rate of 60 too high. Others have problems with the DVI-HDMI conversion (wavy lines). I have a sharp 27 inch tv and use it as a computer monitor- the native is 1366x768 but the video card does not allow that resolution because the EDID information being sent from the tv. I don't know if this panel has this problem- but I think its possible.
3. Magnavox 37MF437B- not out yet- but if the same as the philips 42 inch 1080p panels- then I'm impressed.

FYI- only the Westy's user's manual does it state PC use at full resolution. Both the Sharp and the Magnavox list something lower.

Please assume they are all the same price (they are all within $200 of each other) - but that's only if I get the Sharp or the Magnavox online so I can't return unless DOA. I can get the Westy and return if I don't like.

I know there are lots of opinions on here- but if you were to buy again- or if you're buying new like me- what would you get? Other thoughts?

I'd probably go for the Westinghouse or the sharp.. i wouldn't buy a Magnavox product again, I've had some of their stuff in the past.. there is a reason they merged with Phillips and now all of the sudden their name is back separate.

Dunno what westy you are looking at but the popular one is the LVM-37w3 and it has no SD or HD tuner in it.. if thats a big issue for you to have an out of box tuner or use a cable box, go with the sharp. You won't be disappointed with either, but if tv is going to be big on it.. go with the sharp for simplicity's purpose. Westinghouse has a reputation for being douche bags when it comes to customer service from everything I've read.

Personally I would probably go with the sharp for that reason alone.. and I wouldn't want to deal with the tuner stuff. And the sharp is mad sexy :)
 
Thanks- yes its the W3 I'm thinking of for Westy. I don't care about the tuner- I live in Brooklyn and OTA HD is very spotty and I prefer to have my HD cable box anyway to have the guide etc.

I agree that the Sharp looks so much better (not PQ wise) but at the end of the day- I think I'm leaning towards the LVM-37W3 because it seems to have consistently good comments. I have a PS3 and I'm also a little concerned about the HDMI issue- but I think I'll just feed a HDMI-DVI signal to it and I hear that works fine.

I can't buy it anyway until Sam's club has it back in stock- so any other thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
don't be swayed! for pc use the sharp is mediocre at best. returned mine 3-4 days later and have a westy arriving today.
 
This is second hand info, but you may want to check out the LG 37BD5D. Brand spankin' new and a friend of mine who just saw a demo said it was an amazing set. I've requested a demo with my supplier, so I might have more info sometime next month.
