hey all, using a 7900GT 256b pci-e - vmoded and has a zalman vf900 on it. running at about gtx speeds.

I found a 640mb evga 8800gts pci-e for 365$ CDN after rebates @ncix. i was going to grab it. what do you guys think? worth it over a 7900gt @ gtx speeds?

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=21406&vpn=640-P2-N821-AR&manufacture=eVGA

have a core 2 rig @ 3.5ghz,2gb, etc and a 22inch acer 1650x1080

I thi nk that i can get 150-200$+ for my card. good idea right? or wait for the 8900 series?

If you are going to stay with that monitor and resolution, a 8800GTS 320 MB overclocked card will suit you just fine and save you some $.

I just ordered one yesterday. Seems to be a very good deal for the price, when i saw it i though it was teh 320mb version.

Im running e6600 (havent oced yet as i just got it for free in exchange for my e6400) with 2gb ram, 20.1' vm2025 @ 1680x1080, ive been "gaming" on an x1300 512mb since last august waiting for the danged r600... what a waste of my time.

^maybe you didn't read the post Kano, he said ncix.com in canada. the egg isn't in canada.

that being said, i picked up the same deal, w/ tax and express shipping it came to $470 i believe b4 rebate.

my problem with the 320mb version is that most games on ultra settings want at least 512mb ram. was the main piss off with my 7900gt.

hence why i dont want the 320mb one. for 65$C more or so (seen the 320mb for 299$ on shopbot.ca) , might as well get the 640mb

You don't need more ram at the resolutions your playing games at..you need speed.
If you monitor's native resolution is above 1950x1200 then you may need the 640MB model.
