360 Controller question...

Ok so I have had my 360 for going on two years now. Original Jasper core and the thing is great for me. However, over the last 6 months the controller has been exhibiting some weird behaviors..... Trying to do fine movements (i.e. small movements while scoped in MW2/BO) the controller will suddenly "wander" in a different direction. I first noticed this when I picked up DA:O and would be running around in the dungeons and go to stop and my character would start walking in circles on it's own.

This "wandering" controller issue, is this something with the controller, the connection (i.e. RF interference) or something else? I have tried resyncing the controller but that did not alleviate the problem. And it seems to happen in the most inopportune times. I have narrowed it down to when I am trying to make rather "fine" movements so I am leaning towards a controller malfunction/issue.

Anyone else experience this and/or have a remedy?

It just happens from ware and tear FME. I have the same problem with all games as well on my 360. Just the sticks getting loose and not completely centering themselves.

Never had this issue, and the controller I use is from my original launch console, from 2005.

Wondering if I should pick up another controller? Actually, might try my brother-in-laws extra controller to see if it exhibits the same problem. Just makes it a bitch when you are trying to snipe someone or get a nice headshot while someone is hiding most of their body behind a barrel/wall/object and the reticle suddenly jumps to the upper left side.

so its not a slow slide in one direction? Mine does the slow slide in a random direction but if yours is jump around I'd say try cleaning it out. Also removing the batteries may seem like an idea at this time as well.

If it's always in the same direction, I'd agree with the poster above that said it was wear and tear. I'm having the same problem with my PS3 controller right now in that it always tends to wander upward on the left stick.

Sorry, it does not matter the direction that I am trying to go but it always goes up and to the left when aiming or the character will walk in a medium circle to the left.

I am assuming there are tutorials on how to take the controller apart to clean on the web?

Yeah, I had this with one of my 360 controllers (my first one). It was just the analog stick wearing out.

Has anyone tried to get MS to replace it under warranty? Figure its a long shot but would ask? Might just have to pick up a new one soon, and damn I was going to wait for the TRON controller!

Wear and Tear

I've worn out a number of controllers to this point. I can pinpoint the failures in my case to games where I left click to sprint, or right click to 'melee'. After six Call of Duty games, three Halo games, Two Bad Company's and countless others that mimic the control scheme, that's what I've chalked it up to. On those same controllers (obtained at different times) I've worn out the 'A' button as well.

Either I play too much, or I squeeze too hard. I'm willing to bet it's a bit of both, the first more than the latter.

I've also, on rare occasions, turned on the box with the controller while one of the sticks was canted, which caused this issue and required me to turn off my box to reset it.
