Motherboard: Foxcon 6150K8MA (GeForce 5150/nForce 430 chipset)
CPU: A64 3000+
RAM: 2 GB (4x512MB)
HDD: 2 7200RPM drives. One 40GB, one 60GB
Optical Drives: IDE DVD burner
Cards: 1 PCI 802.11g card.
USB keyboard and mouse. No other peripherals.

I've been having some strange issues with this rig and trying to get Vista installed. I've found that when a box is acting this flaky, it's usually a power supply issue.
So, is 350W enough, or should I get a bigger PSU.

I just know this is going to come across as a jerk-type answer...

but what happens when you try to install an NT5 based version of Windows, or a Linux? Do you get similar problems?

Right off hand, if you are not using an external graphics card, everything should fall within the power envelope of 350watts... it should be under 300watt on your system.

I'm actually getting ready to give XP a try as I type this.

PSU manufacturer is some company called Star Tech.

Just for the record, I didn't select this hardware. :D

Hmmm.... think I found the problem. The motherboard just went tits up. Won't power on. PSU works fine in a spare box I've got.

I'm guessing that PSU is very low quality, and may have killed the board.

I replaced an Asus board from someone's system before, twice. She insisted I keep using the same PSU the first time, which last another few months before killing the first replacement board. After that, I RMA'd the board and got her a new PSU, and it hasn't had any problems since (2 yrs ago).

RMA the Foxconn board... I have the same board and love it. I was using a 270W FSP PSU in it for a while. Now I'm upgrading it to an Enermax 320W, since I'm adding a vidcard.
