$350 pc-build challange

I've been going through a bunch of possibilities and now I want some of your suggestions.

Help me build a computer (case and all, minus accessories) for $350. AMD based is prefered. What should I put in there? The people will be using it mainly for word processing and internet work. I will also need an OS for this thing.

TIA for the suggestions!
 
I'm not a big linux fan but at that price, i'd recommend a good linux distro.

Doesn't sound too bad. I know the guy does want a Windows OS though. He's not the type that would pick up anything different anytime soon. I just sent him an e-mail asking what he needs in the way of graphic abilities. If anything, I might throw in an MX440 or something like that.
 
well with that price you could probably pick up copies of win2k somewhere and the mx440 without issues and still be under budget

Instead of getting a separate gf4-mx, just get this mobo: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-130-433&depa=1

It's only $30 more and you get the gf4-mx onboard instead of crappy S3 video or whatever. Add another stick of RAM for dual channel, and you'll really get decent performance.
