My 7900GTX has been great (Knock on wood), but decided I would go for the Step-Up to the 7950 as it would only cost me 20 bux plus shipping to the states, but noticed that I am 320 in Queue.

How long does it usually take?? And can I use my 7950 against a G80 Step-Up if it comes out within the 90 days of recieving it?

I am happy with my GTX but I just have an uneasy feeling about it...

Ouch, and I thought being #43 and #44 was bad. My first card moved through the queue very quickly. These 2 have been a while and I'm still waiting. Good luck on your cards though, fells like it could be a while.

It can be a while. I registered my cards about a month ago and was 300 in the queues. I'm at 46/47 right now. But you have your 7900 to tie you over til your turn comes around.

Whoops forgot to mention that its a one time upgrade only. So when the G80 does come out. Well you're S.O.L

Thanks for the info fellas.

I figured it was a one time thing with the step up. It would make it alittle hard for EVGA to stay afloat otherwise...:)

I am pretty happy with my GTX but I just dont know about the longevity, so I think I might step-up and play with it for awhile, then sell it and wait for the DX10 train.

Edit: Holy Shit LittleMe, that is quite the rig!!! If you ever get sick of those 3007's you know who to call:) Also how many windmills does it take to power your home!!! Also you must have a meat locker with the door open to cool your house too!! So sweet!

Nice to know the 7950 crowd is going through the same fun the people who stepped upto the 7800GTX 512MB experienced.

It took about 2 months for me to get my cards from being 500 in line when i did it, Hopefully it goes faster for you guys with the 7950s.:)

That is not true. I was in the 7900GTX SC queue for over 3 months and then the 7950 GX2 came out. I rhen switched to it. You can change one time in the queue. Good luck.

Thanks! I love my precious's. I'd probably turn into smeagol if I didn't have them. I live in the desert, where it was 105 today. I wish I had my own windmills to generate power. Got my electricity bill for last month, usually it's around $40, last month, it was $348. It takes a bit to keep things cool so I'm not going to run all the boxes all the time any more.

Hmmm, maybe I should cancel the step-ups on my 2 reaming cards. Then re-enter the step-up program again on the last day to get to the very back of the queue and see if I'll make it until the iffy September G80 date.

I figure I am due for alittle good luck with my purchases... Seem to be having some bad luck lately:)

I might try the step out of line trick to prolong the wait and make it to the next-gen. But I will be happy with anything. I figure I will go broke going for conroe... every penny I save on vidcards is one I can spend on a a conRIG:) Those 4Ghz benchmarks are pretty hard to ignore.

And LittleMe, I should bottle some of the cold from the Canadian winter and you can send me some hot desert air. NAFTA should cover all the duties :D

Well its all about having your finger on the pulse of the industry and making timely phone calls.

I was in que for 3 days and had my cards in less then 2 weeks

There is no garauntee that the G80 cards will be coming out in September.

Do you have to send them your card and then wait in queue to get a new card or do they notify you when you are low in the queue to send your card to them? I can't imagine being without a graphics card for 2 months.

No, read the terms of the program..When you're # is up in the queue, they send you a link to a PDF (I forget maybe this is the point where they send you the shipping label PDF to attach to your box, I think ship back info PDF or whatever has been taken care of by this point) , fill it in and fax and/or email it back ...You send back your old card, then they send you the new one. Depending on where you are in relation to eVGA in Brea, CA, the turnaround/ship time on basic UPS ground would be 4-6/7 days. And before you ask, NO cross shipping on step-ups.

Ive been like 107 in the queue for quite a few days now.. started out at like 180 about 2 weeks ago.

It hasnt moved in a long time! I want my 7950!! :(

Nope. If your 7950 was acquired through step-up, you can't use that to step-up to the next level. :( eVGA would lose a ton of maney that way if nV kept up the pace. :D

I feel your pain ;), I started out at 313 early in the week and now ... rolling in at 311 *sigh*.

Just curious on the stepup terms, but how do they handle if the card had a MIR? Both me and my brother picked up a 7900GT during the Circuit City sale several months ago, but he filled out / sent off the MIR and I didn't since I didn't want to be invalidated for the StepUp. However after reading the terms more closely, I am not really sure that his card couldn't be used in the StepUp. Does eVGA just check their database for any MIRs and then increase the price of the StepUp accordingly or is his card really invalid? He started asking me about it after I joined the StepUp queue for the 7950GX2, but I really didn't know how to answer.

lol #314 in line for 7900 -> 7950GTX, I guess the longer the better, it gives me more time to save up/wait for the 8x series (?)!

Do you qualify for the step-up program if you got a 4 months old eVGA 6800GS? I didn't go to their website to read so I am not sure exactly. ALSO, I replaced the cooling fan with an Accelero X1. Even if I do qualify, would I have to replace the cooling fan to the old one that came with the videocard itself or not?

Edit: What if you cut a wire or something on the videocard itself? Maybe I can ask them for replacement and a month later, I can apply for step-up program :D . Anyone think thats a good idea or should I throw that idea into the garbage can? Maybe it can be considered fraud so I guess thats not too good, heh? :(

No, the StepUp program is only available for the first 90 days after your purchase date. In terms of aftermarket coolers, eVGA allows you to use them as long as you swap the original cooler back on before sending it back for StepUp or RMA. They do however specify that the card needs to be back in original condition so any modification or damage would probably disqualify you anyway.

Now down to 250-ish. Nice bump up since last night. Was in the 290's last night. Must have got a shipment...

Not sure about that, I've been 42 and 43 for weeks now and when I checked this morning, I'm 41 and 42 now. 1 card went out and it's a guy in another thread on here. A lot of people must have jumped out of the queue or something.

So wait a second ... you have 90 days to step-up. If you decide to step up at the last day of your 90 days, and by chance you are number 500 or something, can you step out of that queue at a later time to go to a different one?

Yes you can. Say you are in queue for a 7950 and the G80 is released, you can step out of queue once. I think you can only do it once.

I would love for that to happen to me but I doubt it... but it is possible.
