So last year I almost pulled the trigger and purchased the Panasonic TC-32LZ800 mostly due in part to the fact that it was an IPS display, glossy screen, and very low input lag. Fast forward a few months and my aging FW-900 has a reddish tint that appears to be getting worse... even after running Windas and Restore function numerous times on it. So, now's the time to purchase an LCD.

I like the HD-TV's because they appear to not have gone down the stupid road of incorporating or marketing Wide Gamut which I absolutely DESPISE and LOATHE!

So, now that we have the 2009 models readily available, I have yet to find any reviews on Panasonic's new TC-L32S1. I know that this model appears to be replacing the 85 series from Panasonic which they all were the same really... last years model was merely 1 with a glossy screen and the other with a matte screen.

Would it be safe to assume that the low input lag of last years models from Panasonic would in fact be the same with this years models?

I know that I don't want to deal with the 120Hz models because from what I read it would appear that it adds further to lag. 60Hz should be fine for me. Also, the fact is that I do not want anything bigger than 32" because it will be strictly used as a computer monitor.

However, it really is a huge deal to me to have a monitor that has low input lag... maybe I should just pull the trigger and purchase from Amazon seeing as they have such a great return policy... if I don't like it, I will send it back. But I really would prefer to know in advance that this thing has low input lag cause I mostly will be using this LCD with a computer for gaming purposes.

Also, I see that LG has their 32LH30 which seems practically dead on the same specs and everything as the Panasonic... I wonder if they use the same panel? Anyone know?

Well, any thoughts, input, or anything to assist me would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

This is not true. Almost all 120 Hz TVs have a "Game Mode" that bypasses most if not all of the unnecessary processing, and 120 Hz helps with movies and sports.

Thanks,

I saw the LG compared to the Panasonic last year and the Panasonic looked much better to me. I suggest you go over to AVS Forums: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=166 and read up on what people are saying about the TVs you are interested in. There is a lot of good info there.

I was able to find a good discussion going on about the LG 32LH30 and apparently it has an issue with banding... that seems like a bug of some sort because an IPS display should NOT have any kind of issues with banding... 8 bit displays should never have banding issues...

So, I think I am going to pull the trigger and purchase the Panasonic TC-L32S1...

But 120Hz on an LCD TV does absolutely nothing for gaming, because 120Hz LCD TVs are faking it by inserting duplicate frames - they only take 60Hz from the video card. The only true 120Hz LCD displays at this time are the Samsung 2233rz and Viewsonic VX2265wm; both are 22" TN monitors.

And here I thought you were going to say the insane backlight brightness that can't be turned down enough on some computer monitors... :)
