I have this GPU: Geforce GTX 260

I am playing Simcity 4 and I have two monitors. I am running SimCity 4 on one monitor and EVGA Precision as well as Rivatuner on the other monitor.

I'm experiencing lag in the game and I'm showing that my card is only running at 301mhz core clock...

Why isn't it at 602mhz?

SimCity 2000? I think most Windows 3.1 era games don't utilize the GPU much, but I could be wrong :p

It happened to me with a single monitor and 177.41 after bieng in a game for about an hour. The only way to get 3d clocks back was to restart the system. In you case it may be that you have two utilities installed that may conflict with each other. Does it do it in all games/ 3d apps?

I let windows update install the 178.13 and uninstalled Precision, then it went away. There was another thread some where on [H] where some one had the same issue and dual monitors as well as SLI.

Well I'm now reading that my clock is back up to 602mhz, in fact rivatuner and EVGA precision are both saying it is at 602, however they say this all the time, even when im on my desktop in 2d apps?!?

BUT,

Simcity 4 Rush hour continues to stutter and be really choppy. The game isn't that graphically challenging. My GTX 260 should destroy it.

It happens when I try to scroll across the map...the screen staggers and is delayed/lagging...

Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

Specs:
OS: Windows Vista 32bit
CPU: e8500 Intel C2D
GPU: Geforce GTX 260, Drivers 177.41
RAM: 3 GB DDR2
Gaming Resolution: 1920X1200

This is what I have tried so far:

1.) Compatability Mode Windows XP
2.) Lowering settings to low, and resolution to 1280
3.) Uninstalling/Reinstalling
4.) Run as Administrator
5.) I'm about to install new video drivers tonight

HELP, my card should destroy this game. Plus it's one of my favorites

I use "force 3d performance leveling" in RivaTuner to solve it. I don't care that my card runs 3d speed, even at the desktop. I have a profile set in EVGA precision tuning to downclock my card if I want. The stuttering might be the card throttling speeds. I would alt-tab out of the game to check the precision tool to see if the card is indeed staying @ 602 mhz at all times in 3d mode.

Um, why in hell are you running both Rivatuner and Precision ?

To make sure one of them wasn't working. If they both give the same reading then it's most likely right.

If one gives 302 and the other gives 602...then one is wrong.

Thanks for all the throttling help. But I am reading that my clocks are behaving normally now. Yet the stuttering continues..

Any ideas

After a quick google search, it seems the game suffered from performance bugs. Did you patch the game?

I'm fairly sure the same guy that made Rivatuner made Precision, and that Precision is just a dressed up and more userfriendly version of essentially the same thing.
