300W PSU for cheap intel system, will it work?

I have a cheap celeron system I put together, 3.06ghz celly with an intel board. My problem is my psu doenst have that little 4 pin connector. Is it crucial to have/use? and or will it even work? kinda wanna know before I test it. I am running nothing more than a cd-rom, hdd, cpu fan. Everything else is integrated in the mobo.

If the board has a 12v P4/aux connector it is needed as it supplies the processor.
