3007WFP-HC issue

Well, just got off the phone again with the RMA manager. He said again that there are no more refurb. 3007WFP-HC's in stock. So I looked at the refurb page and sure enough, they pulled ALL of them. Only 3008's now. He said that I could send back the faulty repalcement but it could take time to get another factory refurbished monitor back in stock to send out. I am getting pretty frustrated here. I know that I spent only 800.00 on this monitor knowing it was refurbished, but dell states it is back to like new condition and warrantied for 3 years. What if this monitor becomes discontinued? What will they replace it with???? Im getting worried now and about to just ask for a refund.

If you are under the 21 days ask for a refund. The replacement for the 3007 is the 3008 which is what they should use to honor the warranty if they dont have any 3007s.

I had the same problem with these green "specs" or "noise". They appear sometimes at random in dark areas of the screen. Turning the monitor on and off fixed it for me most times.

It appears to be video card-related. It happens with my X1900XT. Apparently some folks say that these ATI cards have weak DVI output signal. When I replaced my X1900XT with an 8800GTS, the problem went away.

Hope this helps.

THIS.

My 3007 does with with ATI cards only, not nVidia.

I made a thread about it a while ago: see here. Feel free to bump it if you want to. I'd like to see if there are any alternatives besides dumping ATI for nVidia.

Its just a lie. I've had 3 replaced in the last 2 weeks. The main problem when dealing with Dell customer service is about 90% of the people you talk to are drones. You have to get extremely lucky to get transferred to someone who can help you. It takes me on average about 2.5 hours of waiting and transferring to just do a simple exchange on this monitor - but stock has never been an issue.

Basically to anyone reading this, I cannot recommend strongly enough to avoid Dell at all costs. They're not the company they used to be when it comes to customer service.

Do what I did: When you cal Dell, there's a point when the automated attendant asks if your item is for Home or Business use. Choose Business, even if you only use it for Home.

Call #1: I spent over 75 minutes getting transferred from operator to operator (overseas operators who barely spoke English) before the connection was lost. During that 75 minutes, the operators said I'd need to return the 3008, at my expense, before Dell would send a replacement. That, plus all the handoffs before getting disconnected, had me pretty steamed.

Call #2: Two days later. This time, I said my purchase was to be used for Business when prompted to declare "home or business" as the intended use. Within seconds, I was talking to an English speaking rep (in Nova Scotia). I told him my pixel problem, he had me do a couple of tests, agreed that my 3008 was defective, and processed the exchange request. I was on the phone for less than 10 minutes. I'm getting another 3008 sent to me by Next Day Air on the 27th. I'll send back my current 3008 in the replacement's box. All of this is paid for by Dell.

Hell, it's worth a try.

I agree that this "trick" works with Dell. But its a serious serious issue they have with customer service. They're actually moving call centers back to the states because of the retention of customers who have to use their international support is supposedly very low.

I tried the trick and it worked haha! I got the RMA manager from some place in Texas. As soon as the get my replacement #2 back to them they will dispatch the next replacement monitor. The second one I just got had a yellow hue to all whites which was really bad, almost like the color temperature was set much to warm or something and it had a small group of red stuck pixels directly in the center of the screen which I could not fix through the usual methods and another group of dead pixels in the lower left corner of the screen. This one had a really loose display panel as well even when warmed up for several hours that led to severe backlight bleed.

My 3007 return is going to be back at Dell on Monday, if you end up getting it, the only problem was uneven backlight. It looks like there was a spotlight in the corners. But no dead pixels.

I get them with my GTX 280, so that's not the case.

Of the 3 I've had, 2 of my 3007wfp-hc's had this yellow problem. I think that most people don't see it. But if you put an all-white screen up, and look at it for 15 seconds or so, you'll see it - and you'll never be able to ignore it again. Although the first monitor I had didn't have this issue, but it did have some spectacular backlight bleed. By spectacular I mean my iris was ablaze.

As for my latest venture into CS with Dell, they just called me at 11:15 PM PST on Sunday without solicitation to do so, and the guy put me on hold for 45 minutes before tellign me my monitor was so big that TV repair had to deal with it. I dealt with this about 7 hours prior into my 13 hours of dealing with Dell CS. The TV repair guys, after 58 minutes of waiting, told me not to call them back again because they don't deal with monitors. Seriously, thanks for the call.
Watching the CS flounder is embarrassing. Its hard to solve people's problems when you can't go off script.
