First time post on this absolutely fantastic forum. I want to take a moment to show my appreciation, because I have long respected the community here and have never found the time, or courage to post.

I am currently building an i7, ATI 69xx gaming computer. I've had some input from friends, but honestly, the amount of information I've learned from this forum is 10-fold what I learned from them.

So, to get to the question:

Will a Crossfire rig be supported by the 3007? I mean, would it be possible to buy a 69xx down the line, and use it in crossfire on a single monitor? Are there any drawbacks to having crossfire running on a single monitor?

From what I've gathered, the 6970 is enough to power the 3007 for most games at 25x16, maxish settings. I'm not a stickler on frames, though I've been stuck in the 30FPS realm for a long time and I'm dieing to get out (my current rig is ancient).

I would appreciate any of your thoughts on this. And thank you for creating such an informative forum.

There is no reason CrossFire wouldn't support that monitor or vice-versa. Lots of people have been using 4850s, 4870s, 5850s, 5870s, etc. in CF with that monitor and I don't see why that would change with the 6000 series. You'll be fine. :)

No drawbacks with using CF on a single monitor, other than the drawbacks that normally come with a multi-GPU setup. On the other hand, there were some pretty major performance issues when CF was used with Eyefinity (triple monitor) setups, but I read about those months ago in the video card forum and I'm not sure if they've been ironed out with the newer cards and/or drivers.

Technically, Kyle created this informative forum. We just contribute to it! ;) But I know what you meant and welcome. Can't believe you created an account and went 11 months without a single post! Glad you were able to learn so much - I know I've learned a ton myself.
