I was just wondering what the difference between the dell 3007 and the Apple Cinema 30 (M9179LL/A). I was curious if the screen out of the dell could be put into Apple's hardware. I ask this because I have an apple with a broken screen with no warranty and the dell monitors have really gone down in price. Why not just get the dell and keep it that way, because the apple is way more sexy....
-Thanks

I'm not so sure that could work, but possibly. First off, the ports of the ACD and the Dell are in different spots. The Dell has everything on the bottom and the Apple has one cable coming from the middle of the back. Maybe you could work something out if you have modding skills, but if it could work then you'd have the best of both worlds.

If you can pull this off without a hitch and have this MacDell frankenstein work perfectly....I will drop to my knees and worship you as the uber hardware god.:p

Lol
Im not sure about my "uber modding" skills, especially when there is 1300 bucks on the line:D

You wouldn't know until you took it apart.

Essentially they use the exact same panel module(LCD+backlight with low level inputs). The high level input/control section is likely unique as these don't come with the panel and provided by the monitor maker (dell/Apple). If they are connnected via connectors, it might be a relatively simple swap. You would just take the base panel out of each and swap them, the controls, the inputs, and controls would still be Apple based. It may be the cheapest way to get a base panel to repair the Apple if that is indeed what is wrong.
