Long time reader, first time poster, figure this is the best place to get some advice :p
My rig is in my sig (heh, rhymes), and I'm basically trying to max my o/c. Currently I'm running 240x10, prime95 stable for ~3hours on max heat/power test, 100% F@H, 3Dmark, games, etc. stable, which is good enough for me. I was running 300x8 (seems folding likes the higher external clock), but that wasn't stable (I'm guessing due to the 300HTT  ). I was thinking this was alright, but then I saw some people get to 2.5GHz. 1.7v only gets me to 2.43 or so, 2.45 in only 30min prime stable and 2 min prime stable at 2.5  . It always fails with rounding errors, so I'm taking that to be the CPU's fault. So, I ask, have I reached my limit? Is there any way to squeeze more performance out besides cranking up the volts? I could run 1.7v, but load temps are 50/51C, and it's not even summer yet (this is all on air cooling). Just looking for some help/suggestions, thanks!

Im trying to oc my brothers a64 system. What do i set the cpu freq and multipliers at and stuff? The ram always gets put to like 115mhz and shit its weird. Much diff than amd athlon like i have. I had it booted at 2300mhz but the divider on the ram was 20 lol

Read the guides, they're VERY helpful :D

Yah, that's what I was afraid of, do multipliers/dividers make a big difference in stability?

K i just overclocked it. I changed the HTT from 1000mhz to 800mhz and am running at 2400mhz currently. mem is set to 333 so but its running at ddr400 currently because of the divider. Maybe i can get 2500mhz out of it :)

Mr. K6 are u lowering the HT mulitplier? The maximum HT (HTT x HT multi) Is 1000Mhz on 939 systems and 800mhz on 754 systems. For example, on my 939 system, with a HTx of 5 my maximum HTT is 200Mhz, anything above that and i have to lower it to 4x. 4x will last upto a 250Mhz HTT and so on and so forth. If u exceed ur HT bus limit, u will run into serious instability.
So at a 300Mhz HTT on a 754 system, u really want ur HTx at 2x, If u run 4x u will be trying to run a 1200Mhz HT bus, 900Mhz @ 3x, 600Mhz @ 2x. Check it out. Or you could already kno this lol

Actually my system is rock solid up to 1200MHz HTT. I have no idea why but it's prime95 stable 24hours+. I dunno, I was hoping I could get to 2.4GHz on 1.6v, but it looks like I'm stuck at 2.36. Not that bad, worse things could happen ;)

EDIT: Also, I can't boot at 1x or 2x LDT multipliers. I don't know why, but it just freezes up and boots back to 200MHz HTT and the last LDT multi I had that worked. I guess its a BIOS issue, I should probably update.

A64 cpu's suck and can't overclock worth a rat's ass. You've reached the core's end. You should've bought an Intel.

that doesnt make any sense at all. my friends 3000+ on a KV8-Pro (who says via chipsets cant clock high!) gets 2.5 stable all day on stock vcore, but runs his memory on a 5:6 divider. do you have a newcastle or clawhammer core? clawhammer 754's are notorius for not clocking as well, for some reason.

yah, it's a clawhammer core :( . Ahh well, I guess I should be happy with what I have, I decided to run it at 2.4GHz 1.65v, load temps are only 43C anyway

And what do you mean? The more recent newcastles and the winchester cores overclock like champs. 1.8 3000+ to 2.7? How many intels hit a 50% O/c on good air cooling? Honestly, I hope this doesn't start into a !!!!!! flame war, I'm just looking for some help...

lol... ur the one with the athlon mobile in ur sig..lmao..you suck.....
and maybe athlon 64's don't need to overclock to be as good as intel....an athlon 64 3200+ will spank one of intel's extreme edition in gaming anyways so yeah...imagine an fx-55 wooohooooo ouch....big time whopping....and O yeah maybe you should've bought a brain.
