if those 2560x1440 monitors could only oc to 120hz..... if only..... T__T

I just bought two of the U2711!!! dual goodness.

Not sure if serious...you can buy a new, vastly superior BenQ BL2710PT for 600$. The U2711 is easily one of the worst 1440p monitors and 524$ for a refurb is ridiculous. Sub 250$ is an ok price but it still sucks compared to most of the 300$ 1440p Korean monitors.

The U2713HM is tempting, but I'm also debating it between the Korean monitors, like QNIX, and the HP that occasionally comes on Woot for $350. Hmm.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason why Dell is the preferred monitor brand over other supposed superior monitor brands is Dell has a 100% satisfaction guarantee where you can exchange any monitor for whatever reason, such as finding a single dead pixel, or bad backlighting.

For somebody like me, I would rather have an "inferior" monitor that I am 100% positive will not have dead pixels than to spend $500-600 for a "superior" monitor that I can only return/exchange if I find a minimum x number of dead pixels.

There's no point in arguing with NCX. He has strong opinions (albeit with good reason, since he reviews monitors) that wont change. At the moment I'm running 4 monitors that he finds completely terrible, but since personal computers are personal, (see what I did there) he doesn't use my setup. :p

On topic, these deal are pretty good, especially for the lower end models.

There are plenty of US retailers which offer hassle free return and exchange policies. The U2711 sucks compared to most of the 1440p monitors released since 2012. The sRGB mode has locked color controls, it uses a very grainy matte coating, has poor black levels and suffers from overshoot ghosting while the similarly priced BL2710PT is free from all of these issues.

Where are the deals? There are plenty of superior 23" IPS which can be purchased for 140-170$ new with 3 year warranties vs. 90 days from Dell. New HP ZR2740W's often go on sale for 350-450$ and have less issues than the U2713HM...

I got a refurbed U2713H a while back (not HM, they don't seem to offer the H version regularly, it ended up being considerably cheaper than that current refurb U2711). Had to exchange it three times to get one without glaring flaws. With the amount i was traveling at the time for my job, it was a really painful process. The final one is fantastic though (and it certainly doesn't hurt that I have an i1 Display Pro to calibrate it with).

I really wish these things had better QC....
