Bastards.

I think it would be benefitial to most people if the ones that got the deal (or did not) posted at which BB this happend. In doing so, you are helping out other [H]forum readers. After all, we are supposed to be a community :)

hmmm these coupons work on a ds lite? I've had a small gift card burning a hole in my pocket for two months now lol, and this may push me over the edge.

** edit, nm, read the fine print in the pics. But maybe I'll get lucky :p
Any luck? I wanna get my hands on a DS Lite too, but I can never find a decent deal.

I checked a local BB but couldn't find any 30% coupons. I tried to look through them but felt awkward standing there with everyone around. I grabbed a handful but didn't find any in it. :( They have them strategically placed in areas that make it hard to pick through for a few min. without someone wondering wtf you're doing.

Can anyone confirm these work on LCD's.

Just to give people an idea:

196 for a X1900 GT.

210 for Phys X.

230 for a 7900 GT.

227.50 for a 7800 GS OC and Raptor X.

350 for a 7900 GTX, X1900 XTX, and X1900 CE.

I went up to the service counter and just looked stupid at the girl and said "oh, these look nice... what are they... as she proceeded to chat me up on the sales I started sifting looking for ones that didnt have numbers before the copyright on back of the maphlets in her little box...

I must have sifted through 50+ and I only found two, for a while I was giving up hope... but I snagged a BFG 7900GT OC for bout $252 after tax, and I have one coupon left, which I'm thinking I should use on a Raptor... mmm

this was at the Amherst, New York location, by the University at Buffalo North Campus

at the checkout the girl was cute and laughy, and I did my toothy-smile thing that gets them to giggle... she tried to put my coupon in and it wouldnt work, she said it recognizes the coupon but she has to enter the discount manualy... then she looked over at another cashier and said "Can you believe it Cindy, I still keep having to use my manager password to put these coupons through." ... which to me looks like someone, somewhere, has caught on to this and dropped the coupon but the B&M BBs are not being notified fast enough...

ppl, if you need this, hurry...

The manager override thing has been there forever.

I just wanted to let everyone know out there how to break apart a Platinum Edition, as the instructions on the 1st post are for the essentials only ->

The Platinum is actually easier to open -> there are no screws to hold the HDD sled within the case -> only two plastic tabs. If you are looking at the drive from the top, with the button facing your stomache, you will see 3 long lines along the first row from the front. Two of those long lines on the right will be covered. You will want to push in on those using some sort of knife or something. On the bottom there are only two holes. You want to push in on that too. It is very hard to do all of that, but WHILE you are pushing on those four points you should be able to remove it. For me its too late as I just got lazy and used a putty knife and started JAMMING it in between cracks between the plastic backing and the metal shell and just popped it open. LOL!

If anyone wants pics just let me know.

 ?????????????? are you on the same boat, or u just flow pass by lol

considering how many ppl posted that they couldnt find one of these rare coupons in theirs, and that I found only two in a pile of over-50... I'd say hurry, because they might have pulled them but not recognized that some got mixed in... the new standard one is the 15%... the 30% is the rare one...

keep on sifting!

who cares if they think you're a freak... you got just about 1/3 off nice hardware that can be returned localy without shipping it off incase something is bad :p !

I posted that in case anyone has the platinum editions and want to just simply extract the hard drive from it.

Well... I didn't have any luck.

I went by my local BB B+M, and sifted through a couple stacks...no dice.
HOWEVER... I *did* manage to find one tucked away in a cardboard box that some employee had stashed along with some flyers -the coupon was sitting right on top!!
I grabbed that puppy faster than lightning. (lol)

I proceeded to look for the LG 19" 2ms monitor (L1970H), and didnt find one there. So, I grabbed the first sales clerk I saw, and asked them if any of the other stores in metro St Louis had any left. She looked them up, found that one store out in BFE (Chesterfield, Mo.) had 7 left. It seems some "lady" bought the (get this) THIRTEEN remaining units that my local B+M had left just minutes before. >.>

Anyways, I get out to the Chesterfield location, and then manage to track one down. When I get to the front to check out, I present them with the 30% off coupon...he calls for a manager approval...the girl comes and says..."let me see if we do this on LCD's" ...she comes back, says "I'm sorry" (blah blah blah).

So I kindly asked for her manager... who comes over...says "that's not an accessory".
WTF. It is if you're running multiple monitors...Anyways, he did at least offer to give 10% off (in addition to the sale). :) Bottom line: goooooooood luck if you can get them to honor them.

All in all though, I'm pretty happy about it. Got a 2ms 19" for only 280 out the door. (No taxes, incl. instant rebate, plus 10% off) Not too shabbeh! :D

SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After searching 10 stacks I got a coupole of these.

My plan: Try to buy a 215TW or a 7800 GS(maybe): If they don't honor it well ill call 1888bestbuy right in front of them.

Its a great scare tactic :D

acaurora said:
Won't work. As an employee I tried that, didn't do any discount.

Well as of now its a 50% chance on this unless you meant the scare tactic.

Some people did get to use this coupon for th westy 22 and some got to use this for a nvidia card while getting them to also match the website 15% off.

This coupon can be great or horrible depending on the store.

Calling 1888 Best Buy isnt' considered a scare tactic, and most people won't really care if you call or not, because they (888 best buy / corporate) can't actually make the store do anything, especially if the store is following procedure. ;)

You threaten to file a complaint, yes its a scare tactic.

What I meant was scanning the item, scanning the coupon, then pressing F8 for total. It will show "30% off $100 or more", but not actually take the discount off the product. At least not for me. But then again I was doing it off the 500 GB MyBook Essential.

Of course this coupon requires a manager override. Thats why its so tricky.

It's a threat, sure, but it's not going to 'scare' anyone or make anyone really change their mind...

Then again, I guess it depends on how much of a pushover someone is at the store you are at. All I know is at the 2 stores in my area, calling corporate is pretty meaningless and won't affect a decision someone in store is making, so long as that person is not violating company policy.

So lemme ask you, since you work there, what is the PM policy? I bought a game there 2 years ago for 50 bucks. I then tried to PM with Fry's who had it for either 30 or 20 bucks and the employee couldn't PM it. Then the manager said that policy says they don't have to match advertised prices on software (needless to say I've only made one BB purchase since then for a very discounted UPS).

I've read the big grey sign a dozen times since, and I see nothing that says the manager can override the policy on software.

Thanks

Got a few 30% off coupons, it did not work for the West LCD :(

Go to another best buy if you have one. I have four in my area so all I need is one of them to work. Some guys had to go to four before they could get it to work.

Haha, the Best Buy in Palmdale, CA has a whole stack of 30% off coupons left!

The coupons are placed in the laptop section, and the salespeople are too busy helping other customers to notice you rifling through the stacks. If you look at the stack from the top, you'll notice that the 30% coupons are a darker shade of yellow than the regular coupons. I just grabbed each dark shade of yellow I saw! I'm not greedy, so I only took 10. :D

I also got a Memorex 1GB USB flash drive for $20.99. Regular price was 29.99 and I had the 30% off coupon. At first the cashier was doubtful that it would work because she commented that she "tried these coupons all day and none of them went through." Apparently she did not know that a manager override was necessary. Once the manager punched in his code the coupon went through. Maybe I should have went for the 2GB drive?

EDIT: I just re-read the coupon and "flash drives" shows up under the 20% coupon! I guess the clerk didn't see that and I got the full 30% :D :p

i already got myself a 7900gt from there. thanks to those coupons :D

Did you ask them to PM the 15% off on the site also?

nope...i didn't want to risk it that far since i was already rejected from one BB store..

IIRC PM on software should work fine, so long as:
1. It's not from a place like Costco, Sams, etc,
2. they are not using MIRs to get the price down
3. they have the item in stock, it's not a price mistake.

And the managers can override a decision about PM. It really depends on the managers at the store. Technically BB doesnt' price match online, but some managers have done this at my store just to stop a sale from being lost, so it depends on the managers.
