Hi Guys,

I got an HP 30 inch monitor at work and was pleasantly surprised that it worked in portrait mode. Had to remove 4 screws, rotate and then screw back in. Now I'm considering getting one for home use too. Are there other 30" monitors that have a portrait mode?

Thanks,
Daniel

I don't think any of the 30"ers have a rotate stand. I also just took the Vesa screws out and rotated my 30" monitors to portrait. I keep them in portrait so no huge hassle.

Both Eizo's and NEC's 30-inchers can be "pivoted" as is, without any disassembly. :)
They're not exactly cheap though.

There are stock stands that reach enough height to put the display in portrait mode?

I can confirm the U3011 doesn't rotate but you could probably unscrew the VESA, rotate, re-screw. However it would hit the stand..

ZR30w can be rotated to portrait on the original stand. Just unscrew the Vesa mount, rotate and screw the mount back in. At full portrait height there is about 2 inches between the bottom of the screen and the desk.

Yes, just check their websites instead of trusting me. :)

I have mine on an ergotron mx arm that has a wood block bolted between the desk and the arm to give extra clearance to do portrait.

I found a second 30" HP ZR30w at work. Tried to put it into portrait mode and failed. Seems there were two different monitor stands shipped for these monitors. The earlier ones weren't big enough (just slightly) for portrait mode.
