Seems like some of my information is old, so I am trying to get some current stats.

If cost was not a concern, none at all. 99.9% time spent on same DVI source (computer).

Which display would you get?

Dell 3007

or

Apple 30 inch

Or any other monitor in the Dell or Apple line up (but limited to those two companies).

Assuming (besides the picture quality which is most important) resale, warranty (optional cost irrelevant), etc?

or

The upcoming 30 incher 2560x1600 from BenQ....the FP301W.

or

The upcoming HP 30 incher just announced today the 3065.

or...........lol :D

I think the specs of the HP is similar to the Apple and the Dell (may be wrong). The Benq looks promising.

However, between the two listed above (Apple or Dell), what would you recommend. I can basically get either one for 50% off, but has to be Apple or Dell.

First off, the specs of the HP is a bit different. Its sporting a 92% color gamut which is supposed to be better than the competition's (can someone confirm this?) and while no multiple inputs like the BenQ it will have multiple DVI inputs. So the HP needs a closer examination for sure.

But of the two choices you gave I would get the Dell. For one its going to be cheaper and the specs as compared to the apple is so close that the logical choice would be the dell. Not only is it cheaper but also Dell has a generous return policy concerning dead pixels. For those two reasons I would get the dell instead of the apple.

What......no arguments from you apple fans?? :p

Does anyone here acually have a 30'' Apple CinemaDisplay? Come forth please. I haven't seen any reviews here. Does it suffer from the 'right side brighter than left' problem? The ACD enclosure looks nicer than Dell but Dell's overnight replacement is tough to beat.

That is exactly what i was told by engineering yesterday when i aksed them why we had not made one yet. they told me that non of the 30 inch panels out there had very good brightness uniformity. Very blotchy and heavy to one side.

Guess we are waiting on the next gen. of panels to make one.

My friend just bought a 30" apple. It looks pretty sweet. He also has a the 24" sony crt and a samsung 214T which it seemed to compare nicely to.

If you're worried about the overnight replacement, just go into an apple store and have them open it up and run the monitor. If you got a student discount its only 1800 too. :)

Too late. I got the Dell before the ACD price drop...
