3 or 4 screen trading setup?

Hey just curious if anyone has any experience setting up a trading station. I am thinking if getting 2 video cards or one using eyefinity? His much bid ram do you think I need? Thanks
 
I've set up a number of multimonitor rigs for day traders, video editors, music studios, and a few crazy gamers such as myself. You actually don't *WANT* Eyefinity in your case as you will be opening multiple windows which makes SLS not merely redundant but actually a drawback (Hydravision works okay but it isn't perfect). Since you won't be doing any video acceleration or video processing you need only minimal amounts of VRAM - 1 GB is more than adequate. A single HD77xx is more than enough for what you are suggesting and it can drive all 4 monitors if the monitors are 1200p or less (1440p and 1600p require dual-link DVI or native DisplayPort which limits the HD77xx to 3 monitors at those resolutions). Now if you start using this rig for entertainment then that changes *EVERYTHING*...
 
thank you. I guess I was under the impression that you needed eyefinity to drive more than 2 monitors. I think I will start with what you suggested (hd77xx) and down the road i can always add more. I am assuming the card only has one dual link dvi so if i do use a 1440 monitor at somepoint I can only drive two monitors, the 1440 and another 1200 or less.
 
You have many options as driving multiple monitors, each with numerous charts, is a relatively easy task for today's video cards. The only issues I have ever had with trading have been CPU related, due to having many charts open with many indicators.

If you want to run a dedicated trading rig, you can,for instance, get several NVS295 cards (or something similar) from Ebay.

If you plan to game also with your rig, then you will need a 3D capable ring and will need something similar to what was suggested in the previous post.

I would suggest asking this question over at Big Mike Trading, tons of useful information there and a very helpful trading community (without trying to sell you something).
