Hey,
Just wondering I have a dual monitor setup with a single video card.
If i wanted to add a TV to watch movies on the TV, can I just add a cheap video card with HDMI and hook up the TV to it? Would that cause any issues? Would it work?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can do that no problem.

You could also add one with a DVI port, and get a DVI->HDMI cable/adapter.

Or you could run S-Vidia, RCA video from a videocard with the appropriate output, etc etc etc

What OS are you running... supposedly with Vista, you have to have the exact same video card to do this... with XP and 7 you don't....

Thanks for the replies.
I have Vista but also running 7.
So I guess I'll give it a shot.
Just didn't want to buy a video card and have it not work and deal with returns...

Thanks again!

So deos that mean I would have to replace nVidia's drivers with that WDDM driver to make it work?

All I can tell you is a 4350 and a 3450 work together in vista 64.

Eventually will be adding either a 4890 or 5870 (depending on price) but that won't be till sep/oct, and by then W7 will be official and should be like XP and support a mix of cards, at least it damn well better.

It is supposed to... I cannot believe they did that with Vista... what a dumb move.

I can confirm that an 8800GTX works with a 9600GT to give 4 DVI/HDMI outputs. Well, until my 8800GTX died that is :(

edit: That's tested under Vista and Windows 7 without any issues.

Will it be OK with a 8800 GTS and a HD4350?

...should I risk it and report back? lol

But that config should work in 7 right?

Not likely, Vista and 7 essentially both use very close to the same kernel, both use the new driver model, both use the hardware accelerated GUI. 7 is probably going to have the same requirements as Vista. Unless you see Microsoft specifically document otherwise, I wouldn't trust messageboard hearsay, but that's me.

Thats just a bad idea. Think of how many issues you've had with graphics drivers. Now add a second driver from another company that isnt supposed to be used at the same time as the first driver.

Troubles troubles.. I would get a card of the same brand you have now. As long as you do ATI + ATI or nV and nV, you will have no issues as long as the cards are still supported in the same driver release (So no ancient PCI cards :p )

Vista also has no real issues with multiple displays, other than it wont allow two different drivers (which is a GOOD thing) and it wont span across without using a matrox header (Sucks, but since generally people dont do that, no real issue)

In the OS forum, they are saying that you will be able to run two different video cards with 7.
