Compare these 3 drives: My goal is for it to be as quiet as possible, and as fast as possible. (yes I want a cake and eat it too :D)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822135106 same as #1 only SATA <<Performance benifits?

Which one would you choose?

I know they are cheap (on a tight budget), and I know they are small (will put the 80 and 20 into my celeron which will be a fileserver).

Thanks :)

Yes, I'd love a raptor trust me..

After I buy a new cpu and motherboard (I'm on a celeron now) to get my computer actually functionable, I will worry about the HD...and once I buy the mobo/cpu I will have 65bucks to spend. So, no money for a raptor and I'd really like to not hear a high pitched whine from my HDs anymore.

So, I figured I would get a cheap $50~ HD that is same capacity as my main loud 80gb drive that is the same speed, or faster with a quieter motor. I would put the 80gb and 20gb currently in it and transfer them into the celeron I'm on and turn it into a file server for backups/music/downloads/etc.

I would use the new 80gb HD which im asking advice on purching as the system disk which I would install programs on.

So, again which of those three would be best for quiet operation, and fastest performance?

Cheaper here from a better HDD dealer (Don't buy HDDs on Newegg, you'll be sorry). Also, the SATA WD drive is indeed my pick of the three you listed.

Alright, Thanks Doug I was thinking the SATA one would be best but wasent totally sure :)

Thanks for the heads up about buying drives at newegg I heard about them not packaging them properly :( No one wants a dead drive!

I've bought dozens of HDD's from Newegg without issue. Is this a problem now with UPS?

Negative, it's a problem with Newegg not properly packing drives to protect them from shock during shipping. The goal in packign a hard drive is to completely immobilize it in the box, while providing enough compressible packing material aroudn the drive to protect it shoudl the box be punctured or crushed. Peanuts don't accomplish this, they allow the drive to slide around in the box.
