I have a buddy that has cash to blow on a new setup and wants to get a fast system he can use for testing out cpu coolers. Money is an object, but the overall speed of the system once overclocked is the main goal. We are not sure to go P4 socket 478 or 775, or to go socket 939 with an FX-53 (as the FX-53 939 chips are unlocked).

He is working to develop those spiffy diamond coolers and will be comparing what he designs against the peltier and koolance setups. I am looking for suggestions on a good mobo & chip combo that will:

1. Get hot enough to test out different cpu coolers on
2. Can be overclocked significantly
3. Is relativley 'latest and greatest'

Thanks all

i suggest a prescott....it is rumored you could cook noodles on them ;)....but if i had to choose between them the fx-53 would outperform and be easier to attain than the EE...i heard EEs are like 1000$ right now....but i dont really know...i dont care for intel....

if its not hot enough add more voltage that allways does the trick ;) :p

add more voltage to a PRESCOTT!!!.... i dont remember where i saw it...but i wont take credit for this....i saw in some guys sig it said prescott w/o fan = chernobyl one of the funniest things ive heard in a loooong looong time
